DETROIT, ITS World Congress, Sept. 4, 2014 – Cubic Transportation Systems, a leading integrator of information technology and payment systems and services for intelligent travel solutions, will exhibit two vital new services, Cubic Intelligent Transport Management Solutions (ITMS) and Urban Insights at the 2014 World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). The company will provide demos of both offerings at Technology Showcase Booth 2826 Sept. 7-11 at Cobo Hall in Detroit and will participate in three speaking engagements at the event.

In addition to the Technology Showcase, Matt Cole, executive vice president and deputy for strategy, business development and diversification at Cubic, will participate in a World Congress Executive Session entitled “Big Data and Open Data—The Big Issues” on Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Cole and other panel members will discuss ITS applications based around big data and how they can help improve the movement of people and goods and the efficiency of urban transportation networks. Some applications to be discussed include transport service timetables, real-time awareness of traffic flows and the performance of traffic systems, a specialty of Cubic (ITMS). Cole will be joined by Kenichiro Yoshida, director, Electric Vehicle and Advanced Technology Office, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industries, Abbas Mohaddes, president & CEO, Iteris, Inc., Stefan Schumacher, IBM and Ralf Lenniger, senior vice president, Interior Electronic Solutions, Continental Automotive GmbH. Moderating the session will be Claire Depré, head of Unit Intelligent Transport Systems, DG MOVE, European Commission, Belgium.

Wade Rosado, director of analytics at Urban Insights, and Chris Bax, Cubic (ITMS)’s managing director, will take part in an Urban Insights-sponsored Town Hall discussion entitled “Prime Time for Big Data” on Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. The conversation will explore the case for big data in transportation, including how recent technological advances in big data and analytics will help improve safety, traffic, energy, efficiency and more for agencies as well as the rider experience. Rosado and Bax will highlight how Urban Insights is doing just that with its consulting services and proven data science methodology. They will be joined by Bryan Mistele, co-founder, president & CEO at Inrix, Randell Iwasaki, executive director, Contra Costa Transportation Authority, Detlef Sadlau, Infrastructure & Cities Sector Mobility and Logistics Division, Road and City Mobility, Siemens AG, and Jun Sato, vice president, Telematics Services Department, Innovation Business Unit, Fujitsu Limited, Japan. Dean Garfield, president & CEO, ITI, will moderate the session.

Phil Silver, director, business development at Urban Insights, will moderate a panel joined by Larry Yermack, Cubic’s strategic advisor, entitled “The Importance of the Back-office – Addressing the Payment Processing and Reconciliation Challenge” on Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 3:30-5 p.m. The panel will center on current back-office challenges and solutions being deployed, featuring a discussion on the provision of financial clearing house and reconciliation solutions and services to agencies in a multi-operator environment, promoting the use of commercial off-the-shelf solutions for financial accounting and the automated clearing and reconciliation solutions that Cubic developed and deployed over the years.
