The Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment has published a report on the 2011 National Inventory of ITS for roads in the Netherlands in response to the demand formulated in EC Directive 2010/40/EU. The report gives an overview of the current status of ITS in the country as well as list of some of the most important actions taken. According to the report “many measures are taken to facilitate this high level of mobility and many more are needed as traffic is expected to grow between 10 and 35% between now and 2020”. Transport is one of larger and more significant sector for the Dutch economy as it gives 750000 jobs and it represents 8.5% of GDP.
