Andy Rooke will present “eCall: Faster traffic accident recovery with automated in-vehicle communications capabilities” on 25 August 2015 during the M2M Business Platform event which will be held in Jakarta.

The event, organised by Asia M2M Business Platform offers Southeast Asia’s most comprehensive event for solution providers targeting enterprise adoption of M2M/IoT Technologies. The market potential in Indonesia is massive with the world’s 4th largest population and 297 million mobile subscriber.

ecallAndy Rooke has been the project coordinator responsible for the eCall initiative and the HeERO project. HeERO addresses the infrastructural development to support the pan-European eCall service based on 112/E112, the single European emergency number. ERTICO co-chairs the European eCall Implementation Platform, and is responsible for bringing together all relevant stakeholders necessary for the successful implementation of eCall.

By cutting emergency services response time, eCall is expected to reduce severity of injuries in tens of thousands of cases, saving hundreds of lives and billions of euros in economic losses annually. Notorious for its widespread and persistent traffic problems in its metropolitan areas, Jakarta and other large Indonesian cities need to find a better way of managing the chaotic situation on its roads. Not surprisingly, Indonesia had the world’s 5th highest number of people dying from traffic accidents in 2014. Could the eCall experience inspire the development of new road safety solutions for Indonesia?

Be sure to catch Andy’s presentation to pick up invaluable insights into the large-scale management and coordination of M2M projects in the automotive sector at the 5th edition of the Asia IoT Business Platform 2015 in Jakarta from 25-26 August 2015.
