D ZabrieszachTransport technology business HMI Technologies is expanding their Australian and Asia-pacific operations and has appointed Dean Zabrieszach as Australian CEO.

Mr Zabrieszach has held several senior roles at VicRoads, the Victorian State Government’s Road Authority. Mr Zabrieszach says it is an exciting opportunity “In the last decade technology has rapidly become a vital part of transport infrastructure. All major transport developments now incorporate intelligent transport systems to ensure the network runs as safely and efficiently as possible. HMI Technologies is well placed to take advantage of this, with a growing reputation as an industry leader designing, manufacturing and supporting cutting edge ITS solutions.”

HMI Technologies develops Intelligent Transport Solutions (ITS) used by private businesses, governments and their road and transport agencies. The company headquarters and research and development facility is located Auckland and the business also has manufacturing operations in China. Their manufacturing is primarily in electronic signage, sensors and beacons which they support with software solutions and maintenance, interfacing with the world’s leading traffic management systems.

Mr Ahmed Hikmet, co-owner and Managing Director of HMI Technologies, is thrilled that Mr Zabrieszach has joined the team. “Mr Zabrieszach brings an enormous amount of valuable industry experience and it’s great to have him join us as we commit to expanding our local representation in Australian and Asia-Pacific Markets.”.

HMI have electronic signs deployed on the world-leading managed motorway system in Melbourne, including the M80 Ring Road and on the West Gate Freeway.

HMI’s RouteTIP solution points to an area of future expansion for the business. The first of its kind in the world a RouteTIP beacon network is currently on trial in Christchurch city. Incorporating Bluetooth and mobile technologies, the system sends safety and information alerts to a handsfree smartphone app. RouteTIP gives road and transport agencies a new communications channel to improve safety and network efficiency and it is attracting international attention.

Mr Zabrieszach leaves his role as Director of Road Operations at VicRoads and begins with HMI Technologies on March 16th, 2015.
