The city of Lappeenranta in south-east Finland is introducing a smart ticketing system to make it easier for citizens to buy tickets and travel on its regional bus and coach network.

Lappeenranta is installing the Waltti system, a ticketing technology launched in Finland in January 2015 and which is gradually being rolled out across the country.

The system, which enters into operation in the city today, introduces pricing based on zonal travel and different age and user groups.
