Common (or joint) procurement is the cooperation of two or more authorities in a procurement process. Hosted by the SPICE project, this webinar will provide a brief introduction to joint procurement and Common Buyers Groups in the context of public procurement. The webinar will explore how joint procurement can be used to encourage innovation in procurement.

Cooperation and negotiation helps public procurers learn from each other and find ways to procure innovative solutions. That is where the SPICE project fits in and can support Common Buyers Groups to trigger innovation in the procurement process. SPICE has analysed examples of joint procurement and studied the strengths and weaknesses of different types of joint procurement. These examples will be presented in the webinar and the audience will have a chance to discuss the learnings together. Within SPICE, the focus is on the procurement of innovative solutions in the field of transport and mobility.

The objectives are the the following:

  • To explore the best practices in joint procurement
  • To provide insights regarding the definition, types, benefits and challenges of common procurement
  • To explain how the SPICE project can support the work of new Common Buyers Groups
  • To support existing and planned Common Buyers Group

The webinar is particularly targeted for public procurers from different authorities such as national, regional and city administrators, consultancies working in the field of public procurement, universities and researchers.
