On 14-15 November, MaaS Alliance President Jacob Bangsgaard presented the strategic advantages to Mobility as a Service (MaaS) at the 2nd edition of the International Conference on Future Mobility in Dubai. The event was organised by the Automobile & Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE).

There was clear interest in the region for intelligent transport systems. Solutions for integrated MaaS solutions were discussed for the cities of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Riyadh. These cities have already begun sharing data to develop intelligent urban mobility solutions. Topics discussed also included automation and electrification of the vehicle fleet.

MaaS puts users, both travellers and goods, at the core of transport services, offering them tailor-made mobility solutions based on their individual needs. This means that, for the first time, easy access to the most appropriate transport mode or service will be included in a bundle of flexible travel service options for end users.

The conference was held within the context of Dubai’s aim to become the smartest city in the world. By 2030, the UAE aims that 25% of all public transport systems in the country will be smart and automated and already three years from now they expect to have the first autonomous vehicles driving in the streets.
