NEC Corporation has announced the global launch of a new Logistics Visualization System that is capable of quickly and easily confirm the location and inventory of cargo and unifying the logistical management of orders. Shipment of the system will commence in April 2015, initially focusing on Asian markets.

In recent years, manufacturers and distributors have been increasingly expanding into emerging Asian markets that are enjoying rapid economic growth. This is accompanied by the development of logistics infrastructure to support supply chains. Currently, many logistics operators in Asia have to directly contact internal departments and/or related business operators whenever they receive an inquiry about the status of a certain shipment. This often requires a considerable amount of time to provide a reply and results in higher costs due to the increased number of working hours.

NEC has developed its Logistics Visualization System based on its NeoSarf/Logistics cloud service, which launched in 2012 and is designed to support the visualization of logistics processes.

The introduction of this new software allows business operators concerned with logistics, such as cargo owners, carriers and customs agents, to immediately obtain information about the status of cargo by referencing an invoice number or order code. This helps speed up and streamline responses to cargo owners’inquiries and to ensure quicker action in the event of delayed transportation.

As logistics operators grow, it will be possible to add functions to unify the management of transport order receipts, warehouses, containers, inventory, billing, payments and other functions such as bidding, simulation of routes and smart device cooperation. The new software will facilitate quality improvements and streamline operations for logistics services.

“We are progressively upgrading and expanding our NEC Global Enterprise Solutions, our lineup of solutions and services offered globally to enterprise customers in retail, distribution, manufacturing and other fields. Through the sales of the Logistics Visualization System, NEC will continue to offer solutions and services that help clients to streamline and expand their businesses,” said Koichiro Ohara, general manager, Transportation and Logistics Solutions Division, NEC Corporation.

NEC will exhibit this software at the NEC Innovative Solutions Fair 2015, held in Jakarta, Indonesia on Tuesday, February 10.
