The City of Vantaa, in cooperation with Vantaa Energy, has established six new electric car charging stations, bringing the city’s total to 22. The new charging points are located across the city, including at sporting arenas and shopping centre car parks.
Currently, the charging points are free to use if electronic vehicle owners have registered on Vantaa Energy’s website. Finland has around 740 electric vehicles on the road, with 54 registered in Vantaa.
The recommended ratio is one charging point to every ten electric vehicles, and although Vantaa is well within those brackets, the city has ambitious plans to establish more points in the near future.
Potential sites for the upcoming installations include the Heureka Science Centre, various public transport hubs, and park and ride locations.
