The UK Government has launched a call for evidence on measures to support the uptake of ultra low emission vehicles (ULEV) between 2015 and 2020.

“We are currently funding £400 million to support the early market for ULEVs between 2010 and 2015 including purchasing grants, installing chargepoints, and research and development. The current package ends in April 2015.

Government has announced an additional £500 million to continue to develop the ULEV market after 2015 to build on our current package. We want to ensure that the new package supports inward investment as well as increasing vehicle uptake.

This call for evidence will give all interested parties, including the industry, local authorities and fleets, the opportunity to help us shape the package to ensure it achieves our objectives.

The call for evidence is split into 2 sections:

  • Core elements of the existing package – seeking views on how the current offer should be developed
  • Other initiatives we could support to expand the ULEV market in the UK – seeking views on whether more targeted support in particular areas would be appropriate

We encourage respondents to ensure that views are supported by evidence of impact and economic benefits wherever possible.”
