SUMMARY:RTR Conference 2024
DESCRIPTION:The highly anticipated RTR (Road Transport Research) Conference 2024 will be held from 5 to 7 February. With the expected participation of 400 attendees\, this year’s event promises to be an important gateway into the realm of EU-funded projects revolutionising the landscape of road transport. \nThe RTR Conference has cemented its position as a premier platform\, paving the way for groundbreaking advancements in road transport. This year’s agenda is designed to provide a comprehensive insight into pivotal areas crucial for the evolution of road transport. From the eco-friendly strides of Green Vehicles to the intricacies of Urban Mobility\, Logistics\, Intelligent Transport Systems\, Safety\, and the ever-evolving domain of Automated Road Transport\, the conference is primed to offer a holistic perspective. \nThe focal point of the RTR 2024 Conference is to propose a vivid picture of the European research landscape\, showcasing its forward trajectory in these vital domains. By unravelling the latest innovations and research breakthroughs of EU-funded projects\, the conference aims to underline the profound benefits these advancements bring to the environment\, the economy\, and the overarching fabric of European society. \nSeveral projects in which ERTICO is involved will be featured in the parallel sessions over the three-day event. Starting on Monday afternoon\, from 16:30\, FAME\, SUNRISE and SINFONICA projects’ outcomes will be discussed during the session 6 “CCAM coordination frameworks\, inclusiveness and societal impact”. On the morning of the next day at 9:30\, the results of the SOLUTIONSplus project will be presented in the session 7A about “Next generation electrified vehicles for urban and suburban use” and\, at the same time\, in session 8A the PoDIUM project will be showcased in the “CCAM and connectivity” session. On Tuesday\, starting at 10:50\, an entire session will be dedicated to discussing CCAM and 5G connectivity featuring the ERTICO-led 5G-MOBIX project and sisters’ initiatives 5GCroCo and 5G Carmen. Later\, the NextETRUCK project will participate in the parallel session 11 on “Medium and heavy-duty vehicles’ developments”\, followed by the V4SAFETY project in session 14 “Crash protection and collision avoidance”\, and the SHOW project in session 17 “CCAM on the roads”\, starting at 16:15. \nThis annual event focusing on results from mature projects is organised by ERTRAC\, the 2Zero and CCAM  Partnerships and the European Commission’s DG for Research and Innovation. It is supported by STREnGth_M (Stimulating road Transport Research in Europe and around the Globe for sustainable Mobility)\, an ERTRAC support action in which ERTICO is a partner. \nAt RTR 2024\, participants can expect an immersive experience\, featuring keynote addresses\, panel discussions\, and interactive sessions facilitated by industry experts and policymakers. This collaborative gathering will foster knowledge exchange\, ideation\, and collaboration\, which are crucial for propelling the road transport sector into a future defined by sustainability\, efficiency\, and safety. \nCheck out the agenda here.

SUMMARY:BigDataEurope and the Societal Challenge on Transport
DESCRIPTION:BigDataEurope is a project within the EU’s Horizon 2020 framework programme aiming to build a knowledge- and innovation-based society and to strengthen the competitiveness of Europe’s economy. The project started in 2015 and will culminate at the end of 2017. \nBigDataEurope has developed and provides an integrated stack of tools to manipulate\, publish and use large-scale data resources. These tools are freely accessible to all\, including those with minimal knowledge of the technologies involved\, and have already been installed in customised data processing chains. The Big Data Integrator Platform is a key outcome of the Big Data Europe project. It is an ecosystem of specifications and reference implementations that are attractive to both current players and newcomers from all parts of the data value chain. \nAt the core of the BigDataEurope project are seven societal challenges or focus areas – health\, food\, energy\, transport\, climate\, social sciences\, and security. Transport is societal challenge 4 (SC4) and contributes to smarter\, safer\, and cleaner transport\, using beyond-state-of-the-art data solutions and giving rise to a European leadership for new mobility services. \nThe workshop will demonstrate the value of the recently launched Platform by showcasing the pilot\, and aim to collect feedback from stakeholders requiring transport solutions on how the platform can be extended to increase its value and facilitate further applications. The workshop will also feature a panel debate discussing the transformation that big data is bringing to the transport industry and presenting some of the current EU funded projects working with transport and big data. \n  \nThe Draft Agenda is available on the website. \nRegistration is on Eventbrite here.

SUMMARY:BigDataEurope Hangout: Empowering Mobility Management with Big Data
DESCRIPTION:On June 14\, BigDataEurope’s Smart\, Green\, and Integrated Transport Societal Challenge (SC4) will hold its first hangout for 2017! \nThe launch of BigDataEurope’s open-source Integrator Platform in early May was the culmination of over two years’ development and testing. \nThe Big Data Europe Integrator Platform (BDI) allows a unified view of heterogeneous data for more efficient processing\, analysis and integration without having to worry about native installations of a variety of tools for data processing at scale. BDI has exciting implications for application in the transport and mobility sector. \nIn a webinar entitled ‘Empowering Mobility Management with Big Data’ we will demonstrate the value of the Platform in the domain of Smart\, Green\, and Integrated Transport by showcasing the progress during the last few months of BigDataEurope’s Thessaloniki-based SC4 pilot. The webinar will combine a presentation of algorithms and a live demo of the pilot to provide a status update of the latest developments. \nAgenda: Empowering Mobility Management with Big Data \n\nSimon Scerri – Fraunhofer IAIS (10 mins)\n\nIntroduction to the BigDataEurope project and an overview of the Big Data Integrator Platform \n\nJosep Maria Salanova – CERTH (15 mins)\n\nThe mobility use case in Thessaloniki \n\nLuigi Selmi – Fraunhofer IAIS (20 mins)\n\nTechnologies and applications – Live Demo of Pilot \n\nConclusions and Q&A (15 mins)\n\nWe look forward to your participation! \n\nWHAT: Webinar: Empowering Mobility Management with Big Data\nWHEN: June 14\, 11.30 am – 12.30 pm\nWHO: Luigi Selmi (Fraunhofer IAIS)\, Simon Scerri (Fraunhofer IAIS)\, Josep Maria Salanova (CERTH)\nHOW: Register here\nWHY: Find out about BigDataEurope’s Integrator Platform with a status update of the Transport Challenge’s pilot work on streaming sensor network and geospatial data integration using the BDI.
