SUMMARY:Transport as a Commodity and Utility Virtual Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by ITS America\, ERTICO – ITS Europe and ITS Asia-Pacific\nCurated by MOD Alliance and MaaS Alliance \nIf\, at its core\, MOD/MaaS treats transportation supply and demand as commodities\, blending both public and private sector entities in a more singular customer-driven mobility service – is it possible for our public and private road and mobility operators to achieve a fully commoditized transportation? During the “ITS World Congress ALL-ACCESS”\, MaaS Alliance and MOD Alliance will host two sessions focusing on this. \nThe Global MOD/MaaS All Access will take two sessions to explore:\n• Part 1: Wednesday\, October 7 at 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. EDT: Mobility Services as a Commodity – Does the Business Model Work? Join our distinguished panel as they pick up the threads of a controversial discussion that challenges the premise of Mobility as a Service and whether its promise to deliver choice to travelers and profit to companies can work. \n• Part 2: Thursday\, October 8 at 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. EDT: Mobility Infrastructure as a Commodity – Can On-Demand Management Work? people argue that infrastructure should be treated more like a commodity than it has been\, that limited resources like the curb and sidewalks can be optimized and that there is money to be made. Our panel will explore if “on demand” mobility infrastructure is possible. \n“ITS World Congress ALL-ACCESS” an immersive digital education event series delivering interactive education sessions\, discussion groups\, live Q&As\, recommended content\, and vendor solution presentations in the form of case-studies\, keynotes and expert panels – all accessible on demand.

SUMMARY:International Conference “Smart Cities and Mobility as a Service”
DESCRIPTION:The University of Patras\, Department of Civil Engineering\, in cooperation with ITS Hellas and with the support of the Hellenic Institute of Transportation Engineers are organizing the “Smart Cities and Mobility as a Service” International Conference. \nSmart cities use digital technologies to enhance performance and wellbeing\, to reduce costs and resource consumption\, and to engage more effectively and actively with its citizens. The value of these cities lies in the ability to collect and combine three types of intelligence: the human of the population\, the collective of the innovation institutions and the artificial of the digital networks and applications. \nMobility as a Service (MaaS) describes mobility opportunities and solutions that are consumed as a service\, shifting away from personally owned modes of transportation. MaaS combines mobility services from public and private transportation providers. A unified platform creates and manages the trips available to the users\, through a single account. MaaS offers mobility solutions based on need both for travelers and goods. \nWithin the framework of Smart Cities and Mobility as a Service\, the Conference is an opportunity for industry\, public organizations\, local government and authorities\, universities\, researchers\, consultants\, constructors and freelancers to exchange views on arising problems and solutions. \nYou could participate in the International Conference and present your scientific work on specific topics. DESCRIPTION:Webinar Invitation \n“Intelligent Street Light Procurement: the story from Copenhagen” \n14:30 – 15:30 CET\nThursday 8 June 2017 \nObjectives\n\nTo share good practice of using innovation procurement procedure (e.g. Competitive Dialogue) to procure Intelligent street lights in Copenhagen;\nTo discuss the benefits and lessons learnt of using innovation procurement for delivering sustainable projects.\n\nWho should attend\n\nPublic procurers such as national\, regional and city administrators\, road operators;\nTransport engineers and system suppliers;\nUniversities and researchers\n\nDescription\nCity of Copenhagen has the ambition to be the first carbon-neutral capital city in the world. To reach this ambitious goal\, the city council has adopted a comprehensive and targeted carbon reduction plan. The intelligent street lighting project is a part of the carbon reduction plan to make street lights in Copenhagen more energy efficient\, aiming at reducing the energy consumption by 50%. The project can be considered as a complex infrastructure investment. This is due to the fact that the city had a plan for renewing a part of the lighting system across city to help reaching the goals for optimising the energy consumption and infrastructure renovation. Moreover\, the LED world is a fast developing technology and how to ensure what you buy is not quickly out of market. \nThe tender process of the project used innovation procurement procedures in order to ensure appropriate products and system being purchased and a long term success of the project. A 250 million Danish Krone (about 33 million euro) contract was awarded for installing the new street lighting system in the city and 12 year maintenance. Louise Rathleff\, the program manager and Stine Ellermann\, the contract manager\, will give detailed description of the procurement of the intelligent street lighting and share their knowledge and lessons learnt from the procurement. \nModerator (invited)\n\nAnja De Cunto\, EUROCITIES\n\nSpeakers\n\nLouse Rathleff\, Program manager\, City of Copenhagen\nStine Ellermann\, Contract manager\, City of Copenhagen\n\n\n\n\nOrganisers \nThis webinar is organised by the SPICE project (www.spice-project.eu). SUMMARY:SPICE: Delivering Transport Projects through Cooperation: the Alliance Model
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday 23 February 2017 at 14:00 – 15:00 CET\, the Smart Procurement for Better Transport project will be hosting a webinar entitled “Delivering Transport Projects through Cooperation: the Alliance Model”. \nObjectives \n\nTo introduce the Alliance Model as an effective contract model for delivering transport projects\nTo discuss the benefits of the Alliance model in comparison to traditional frameworks in innovative transport projects and how to adopt this model for other types of transport project\n\nWho should attend \n\nPublic procurers such as national\, regional and city administrators\, road operators;\nTransport engineers and system suppliers;\nUniversities and researchers\n\nDescription\nTampere is a growing city driven by innovation and high-tech industry. Tampere’s innovation has also been applied to the contract of a major transport project in the city. The Rantatunneli tunnel in Tampere is under construction using the ‘Alliance Model’ of public procurement. This means the traditional customer-service provider model has been eliminated\, allowing involved parties to cooperate in the planning and implementing of the project. The alliance members are the City of Tampere\, the Finnish Transport Agency\, Lemminkäinen\, A-Insinöörit\, and Saanio & Riekkola. As a result of this cooperation\, the alliance members have been able to reduce disruptions caused by the worksite while cutting costs and speeding up processes. This webinar invites Mr Mauri Mäkiaho\, Deputy Director of the Rantatunneli project in Tampere\, to present the Alliance Model in public procurement\, in order to inspire public procurers to use the model for implementing other transport projects. \nSpeakers \n\nDr. Bahar Namaki Araghi\, City of Copenhagen\n\nWhat can other cities learn from Tampere’s experience\n\n\nMauri Mäkiaho Finnish Transport Agency\, Project Manager\n\nApproaches to innovation procurement\n\n\n\nOrganisers \nThis webinar is organised by the SPICE project.
