SUMMARY:Workshop | Monitoring Systems for Resilient and Sustainable Bridges
DESCRIPTION:The SENSKIN project is organising its 1st workshop “Monitoring Systems for Resilient and Sustainable Bridges” on 8 November 2017 in Brussels (BluePoint Brussels\, formerly DIAMANT Centre). SENSKIN is a 42-month Horizon 2020 project implemented by 13 partners from 7 countries. The main objective of the project is to improve Structural Health Monitoring techniques for transport infrastructure through the development of an innovative monitoring and management system for bridges based on an inexpensive\, low power\, wireless\, skin-like sensor. \nThe workshop offers the chance to learn more about the project’s findings and discover the latest innovation in Structural Health Monitoring (SHM). The workshop will analyse the functional and operational requirements of the SENSKIN bridge monitoring system based on the needs of bridge owners and operators as well as the SENSKIN methodology. To facilitate and enhance knowledge exchange between practitioners in the field of SHM\, a number of monitoring systems already being used (e.g. BRIMOS) as well as those currently being developed in research projects (e.g. AEROBI) will be presented. \nFor further information click here. Participation to our workshop is free of charge but your registration prior to the event is required via this link.

SUMMARY:The European MaaS model: Achieving sustainable mobility
DESCRIPTION:According to the European Commission\, the European transport sector has to deliver a 90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 whilst providing affordable\, accessible\, safe and clean transport solutions. Mobility as a Service – MaaS – as acknowledged by the EU Green Deal and recently published Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy\, can be an answer with its significant emission reduction potential and provide Europeans with all-encompassing services to meet their mobility needs. \nThe COVID-19 pandemic has been a turning point\, brought many undesired effects but has also opened up opportunities for improving our urban mobility systems and accelerating the sustainable transformations. For a better future\, we will need comfortable\, smart and sustainable mobility solutions\, like Mobility as a Service. The progress that we have made with MaaS in Europe over the past years is very much linked to the hard work of the European legislators in removing barriers from the development of integrated multimodal services and supporting the interoperability of these solutions. \nTo continue this fruitful collaboration and to kick-off this eventful year\, the MaaS Alliance will organise an online event with European Parliament and European Commission representatives as well as with key stakeholders from the mobility sector to discuss priorities and future steps to implement MaaS across the whole European Union. The event will be co-hosted by MEP Henna Virkkunen (EPP). \nOn 4 February 2021 10-11:30 when we will look at the past\, present and future of MaaS and discuss the topical legislative dossiers and strategies from the MaaS point of view. Speakers include Ms Henna Virkkunen (MEP/EPP)\, Mr Richard Szostak (Principal Adviser for Digitalisation\, DG MOVE) and Mr Jacob Bangsgaard (MaaS Alliance President / CEO of ERTICO – ITS Europe) and leading public and private organisations of the new mobility sector. \nIf you would like to participate\, please send an email to the MaaS Alliance.

SUMMARY:SHOW 2nd pan-European workshop
DESCRIPTION:On 30 September\, from 11:30 am till 4:30 pm CET\, SHOW will host its 2nd Pan-European Workshop\n“Which path for a meaningful\, sustainable and feasible CCAM in Europe?” \nAfter 1\,5 years and in preparation of the demonstrations next year\, the SHOW partners have developed vehicle technologies\, physical and digital infrastructure\, business models\, impact assessment methods\, as well as added-value services based on AI and Big Data. But the project has also unveiled challenges that need to be addressed in order to ensure a meaningful deployment of CCAV in terms of technical feasibility and sustainability. \nThe workshop represents an unique opportunity to discuss some of the most pressing challenges and debates that are arising. During the event\, speakers from European and national governmental bodies\, industry\, public authorities and academia will use their concrete experiences from the SHOW project and other initiatives to discuss questions\, such as : \n\nWhat is missing in Europe in terms of regulations\, infrastructure\, manufacturing industries\, or even citizens awareness to achieve a CCAM that we would define as meaningful?\nHow do we want to position Europe in comparison with the strong concurrence coming from the USA or several countries from the Asia-Pacific region?\n\nRegistrations are now open! Click here to secure your spot\nWhen registering\, please indicate whether you would like to attend the event in person or online.

SUMMARY:Connecting Europe Days 2024
DESCRIPTION:Organised on 2-5 April in Brussels by the European Commission\, the European Climate\, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency\, and the Belgian Presidency of the EU\, the Connecting Europe Days will gather politicians\, financial institutions\, industry representatives\, transport stakeholders\, and the European Commission to discuss and exchange ideas on achieving a fully decarbonised\, resilient\, seamless\, and digital transport network across Europe. The event will evaluate progress towards the ambitious targets outlined in the EU Green Deal and the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy. \nA key focus will be on the updated trans-European transport network (TEN-T) Regulation\, which introduces nine new European Transport Corridors and a restructured governance system overseen by eleven European TEN-T Coordinators. Discussions will also explore future funding mechanisms for infrastructure projects and enhancing infrastructure climate resilience. \nConsidering challenges to transport connectivity\, the conference will explore vulnerabilities in the EU Single Market. Sessions will examine the EU transport network’s role in maintaining connectivity with neighbouring countries and its ability to withstand external threats while ensuring preparedness and resilience. \nTwo ERTICO projects\, PoDIUM and ENVELOPE will be showcased at the event. Discover more about these projects at booth 38 in the exhibition area. Christian Kleine\, President of the TN-ITS platform\, joins a panel discussion on “Data-Driven Mobility and Transport Policy: The Role of Artificial Intelligence (AI).” The session will delve into key areas like AI\, data sharing\, interoperability\, and data quality control. The DFRS platform marks a significant milestone at the event with the signing of a Collaboration Agreement with TISA.
