SUMMARY:PTV event: Shaping Transportation 2014
DESCRIPTION:Today we have technologies and data that can drive us to intelligent and ecologically in real time optimize the flow of people and goods on what in most countries is a finite transport network. So rather than building our way out of congestion should we not be “sweating our transport infrastructure assets” in this more enlightened fashion? \nAt this year’s Shaping Transportation conference\, taking placefrom 26 to 28 May in Berlin\, foremost transport policy thinkers\, shapers and decision makers as well as our software users will discuss about “Join up Thinking – Create Intelligent Movements”. \nFor more information please see the PTV event website

The webinar took place on 2 October 2013 and was moderated by Richard Harris of ERTICO partner Xerox Services. The transport sector\, public authorities\, the developers of games applications in the field of ITS and the digital content providers across emergent and established platforms were represented in the presentations. \nPresentations were made by moderator Richard Harris; Gary Bridgeman of Hodos Media Ltd.\, Charles Hunter of Mudlark and Professor Glenn Lyons of UWE. Marcel Meeuwissen of the City of Enschede was represented in the webinar by Richard Harris. \nGamification is nowadays increasingly being debated in the mainstream media and also in the ITS world Gamification is becoming evident. The webinar built further on the gamification session that was held at the 9th ITS European Congress that took place in Dublin in June 2013. It represented the latest thinking and advancements in gamification\, social media and the design of the user interaction. The webinar presented evidence on the use of gamification in transport and ITS and examined its future prospects. \nTo view the presentations\, please click on the presentation links : \nIntroduction : Richard Harris \nPresentations :Richard Harris\, Solution Director Xerox Services\, UKGamification potential \nGary Bridgeman\, CEO\, Hodos Media Ltd. – UKReality is broken\, why we all are gamers – and how they can change our behaviour. \nCharles Hunter\, Co-founder and Managing Director\, Mudlark – UKThe Joy of UX – A Journey into User-Centric Game Design. \nProfessor Glenn Lyons\, Associate Dean & Professor of Transport and Society\, UWE Bristol – UKSocial Media in Transport: Evolution or Revolution? \nRichard Harris on behalf of Marcel Meeuwissen\, Senior Advisor Traffic and Transportation\, City of Enschede – The NetherlandsChalleges and competition to change mobility behaviour \n  \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:2nd SATIE Workshop: From Test Bed to deployment?
DESCRIPTION:How can ITS Test Beds better support ITS deployment? \nTest Beds managers and stakeholders are invited to present the present status of ITS Test Beds in Europe\, and discuss which barriers should be removed for more successful deployment of ITS and how cross border cooperation could contribute to bigger national and European added value \nWorkshop topics: \n• Which are the ITS test beds are active in Europe today?• How do they support innovation deployment and what are their benefits\, their limitations?• Life after research and development: what can make a test bed a long-term initiative?• Linking Test Beds at European level\, why and how?• The SATIE concept of Test Beds and innovation incubators\, and an approach to a pan-European network of Test Beds \nAbout SATIE: \nThe SATIE project\, co-funded by the European Commission through the 7th Framework Programme for RTD\, is creating and validating a concept for a “European Large-Scale Action” to stimulate innovation and its take-up in the domain of Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) for transport and mobility. \nIf  you would like to participate\, please send an email to Sébastien Mure \n \nFor more information about SATIE\, please visit www.satie.eu

SUMMARY:ITS World Congress
DESCRIPTION:ITS World Congress 2013: “Open ITS to the Next” \nITS is expanding into the next stage of mobility and society. \nStarting with safety and traffic management as basic concerns\, ITS is reaching out to three new domains: energy management\, personalized mobility services navigated by big data\, and resilient transport systems. The first two stem from the emergence of electrified vehicles and continuously advancing ICT technologies\, and the third concept of resilient transport has become very important since the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. At the same time\, mobility in mega cities/regions is a major issue to be addressed in emerging economies\, especially in Asia. \nOpen has been adopted as the key word for expanding the potential of ITS: open platforms for basic concerns\, and open connectivity\, opportunities and collaboration for the three new domains. \n http://www.itsworldcongress.jp
