SUMMARY:Improving Cycling Safety using ITS
DESCRIPTION:The VRUITS project\, which is sponsored by the European Commission (DG MOVE)\, aims at providing recommendations regarding ITS applications for the improvement of the safety and mobility for Vulnerable Road Users. VRUITS assesses the societal impact of selected ITS applications and demonstrates the use of innovative ITS applications for VRUs. \nIn Helmond\, the VRUITS project will demonstrate how vehicles and cyclists can communicate with each other. For example\, vehicle drivers can receive warnings of possible collisions with cyclists and the vehicle brakes automatically to avoid the collision or cyclists are personally warned for collisions. \nIn the seminar the VRUITS partners will discuss how ITS can be used to improve cycling safety. The use of Cooperative ITS for cyclists will receive specific stress. DESCRIPTION:The 3rd eCall TESTFEST event\, organised by ERTICO – ITS Europe and ETSI\, will be held from 27 to 31 October 2014 in Vigo\, Spain. This event will be hosted by CTAG in cooperation with CETECOM. \nAt the eCall TESTFEST event last year\, more than 30 vendors benefited from more than 300 test sessions to check the interoperability of their IVS or PSAP devices. With eCall now coming closer to the market\, verifying the eCall chain and in particular the compliancy to eCall standard requirements through different means of test is critical. This third eCall TESTFEST event is a unique opportunity to check your eCall implementation confidently against other devices and eCall standards requirements. \nThe eCall TESTFEST event enables vendors to run interoperability test sessions using test descriptions provided in approved guidlines. The event will bring more value with the debriefing sessions where experts can answer technical questions or solve interoperability issues. Additionally\, compliancy and performance checking sessions will be schedulded to complement the interoperability tests. \nPlease register here \n
