SUMMARY:FOCUS ON Workshop: IoT Open Data Access
DESCRIPTION:On 4 September\, ERTICO is co-organising the workshop “IoT open data access to advance mobility in European cities: how can we achieve it?” in collaboration with the European Commission\, AIOTI\, Open & Agile Smart Cities and Big Data Value Association on the integration of Big Data and IoT platforms\, which is leading to new data-driven business models and has the power to transform Europe’s industry. \nYou can view the Agenda here.  \nDon’t miss the chance to learn more about mobility of the future\, register now! \nCompanies are gaining impressive new  means to innovate and develop the next generation of products and services. Europe cannot afford to miss this opportunity. The EU’s emphasis on digital technology and digital platforms developed in Europe should rival that of other world regions so that it stays ahead of the curve. \nTo secure the EU’s leadership on Big Data and IoT\, several challenges need to be addressed: \n\nTechnical challenges like interoperability\, scalability and platform technologies\nAwareness challenges across the industry\, such as the benefits of data driven models\nPolicy challenges\, particularly access to data\n\nThe workshop focuses on the IoT benefits for smart mobility. It includes insights about IoT solutions for smart mobility and emphasises the huge potential IoT has for developing new connected automated mobility (CAM) paradigms by focusing on the long-term target outcome and working backwards towards immediate actions needed. \nThe workshop underlines the importance of access to data in value creation. In the workshop\, access to data will be assessed on the one hand from the angle of business agreements based on a win/win approach and private public/interest concepts and on the other hand from the angle of a technical semantics interoperability (via a common ontology shared with other sectors) as a converging framework. Existing and upcoming EU data policy and legislation will be explored to define the role of regulation and its impact on access to data. The requirements for harmonious integration of the mobility solutions in the interoperable ecosystem for cities will also be discussed. \nFinally\, the feasibility of an EU platform initiative for Open Data Access will be explored. This prospective EU platform will first aim to answer the needs of the demand side\, as it is likely to be more pro-active than the supply side for open access to data. \nWHO IS IT FOR?\nAll key sectors involved in the Big Data and Mobility value chain will be invited to attend\, including but not limited to: \n\nTelecoms: MNOs\, manufacturers\, Cloud platforms and solutions’ developers and providers\nMobility solution and platform developers\, Mobility service operators\, convergent companies covering several sectors\nData Protection agencies – relevant public authorities\nStakeholder associations\n\nClick here to register. \nThe participation in the workshop is free of charge but a registration is required. Due to the limited number of seats\, an email confirming you registration will be sent to you.

SUMMARY:C-ITS City Pool Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The C-ITS City Pool Workshop provides a space where transport authorities can share real-life experiences\, receive feedback and learn about best practices and business opportunities for the deployment of Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS). \n>>> View the C-ITS City Pool Workshop agenda here <<<\n \n>>> Register now <<< \nLaunched in 2015 in the framework of the CIMEC and CODECS projects\, the C-ITS City Pool acts as a central meeting point between transport authorities already engaged in C-ITS deployment and other cities interested in how C-ITS can improve urban / regional mobility with the aim of raising awareness and support deployment. \nAs of March 2018\, the City Pool is managed by the C-MobILE Stakeholder Forum\, involving traffic managers\, road operators\, industries\, fleet operators\, as well as everyday road users (such as professional taxi\, bus or truck drivers\, but also vulnerable road users such as cyclists and pedestrians) with the aim of establishing functioning business partnerships. \nThis C-ITS City Pool Workshop focuses on the upcoming C-ITS Delegated Regulation and will provide insight on digitalisation and upscaling challenges for cities. \nJoin the C-ITS City Pool today: you will learn from other cities about C-ITS and what it can bring to your community\, but also what hurdles you should expect when trying to implement. Share knowledge\, speak with your peers and make arrangements for follow-up contacts. \nThe participation in the workshop is free of charge but a registration is required. \nRegistered participants will be invited to fill out an online survey ahead of the event\, and the results will be discussed at the City Pool Workshop.

SUMMARY:2018 ITS World Congress
DESCRIPTION:ERTICO ITS Europe organises either an ITS World Congress or an ITS European Congress every year. \nThe ITS World Congress rotates between Europe\, the Asia Pacific region and the Americas\, returning to Europe every three years. \nThe ITS World Congress is held in Europe in the years where there is no ITS European Congress. \nThe Congresses provides the ideal opportunity for all stakeholders to come together\, discuss and make the necessary contacts to move initiatives forward and to develop their business by exhibiting and demonstrating state of the art ITS solutions. The Congresses also showcase the latest ITS achievements from the city and region hosting the Congress\, and can help increase awareness of ITS in the Host region itself. \nThe ITS Congresses consist of three main areas: \n\nCongress programme sessions and presentations of the latest developments in ITS\nDemonstrations – showcases of current ITS technology being developed and deployed throughout the world)\nExhibition – exhibition booths and dedicated sessions/events\n\nParticipating in these three areas offers a unique opportunity to show and explain the latest technologies and services\, with a slightly different focus for each. \nDuring the Congress\, ERTICO Partners also have the opportunity to arrange more focused ancillary events before\, during and after the Congress\, as well as having access to meeting rooms\, lounge areas and hospitality rooms. ERTICO develops specific mobile applications\, networking facilities\, webinars\, videos\, interviews and articles on both topics in focus at the Congress but also on the different companies participating. This provides the ERTICO Partners with yet another means to promote their technologies and services. \nVisit the ITS World Congress website for more information.

SUMMARY:Seminar on Sustainable Urban Mobility in the Smart City
DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday 10 October 2018 from 10.00 – 14.00 BrabantStad organises an energetic seminar that focuses on serious deployment of Sustainable Urban Mobility in the Smart City. Today’s cities and regions in Europe face challenges in terms of congestion\, air quality\, noise\, livability\, lack of space\, global warming and sustainable economic development. The question is how will we move from a to b in the decades to come? The solutions that industry can offer have the potential to be a game changer and have a large impact on society and the way how we use public space. Developments in mobility are complex and highly dynamic\, meaning it is nearly impossible to accurately predict the future. What we know today is obsolete tomorrow\, so this has to be a story of learning by doing. Governments\, industry\, researchers\, citizens and all other stakeholders need to work together in living labs\, real life test beds and learning ecosystems. We need creativity and partnership. Main question today is ‘How to make change happen?’ and six inspiring speakers might bring us closer to the answer. \nWith a 150-minute dynamic and interactive program\, we intend to outline a number of stories in the field of Sustainable Urban Mobility. 5 minutes pitches of speakers are combined with round tables sessions of 10 minutes with the attendees. \nTopics and speakers: \n*        Moderator Meike de Jong\, Journalist and TV Anchor Dutch RTL. \n*       Anne-Marie Spierings\, Vice-Governor of Noord-Brabant and Provincial Executive for Energy Transition. \n*        Mayor Paul Depla of Breda\, on behalf of BrabantStad. \n*        Cooperative Connected Automated Mobility\, Traffic management of the future and the role of data – Stephanie Leonard\, Strategic Business Development Manager at TomTom. \n*        Strategy innovation and change management for sustainable urban mobility in the smart city – Stephanie Trpkov Energy Consultant World Bank Group. \n*        Tesla: the impact of one single company on the worldwide transition to zero emission\, energy storage and automated mobility – Tesla Benelux (tbc). \n*        Intelligent Transport and Energy Transition – Anna Domènech Abella\, Section Manager External Affairs Nissan Europe\, Barcelona. \n*        Local and regional governments as catalysts in deployment and scaling of sustainable urban mobility – Martin Tollén\, County Council Region Östergötland\, Sweden and Coordinator Mobility of Assembly of European Regions (AER). \n*        What are the ‘needs’ of the automotive industry to deploy ‘new and sustainable mobility services’ in cities and regions? – Stefan Büchele\, Deputy Director of International Cooperation at e-mobil BW State Agency for New Mobility Solutions and Automotive Baden-Württemberg in Stuttgart. \n*        Henriette van Eijl –  DG MOVE European Commission. \nInvited participants: Politicians\, policy makers\, public representatives\, entrepreneurs\, researchers\, experts and EU experts\, European partners of the European Commission\, Regions & Cities\, EUROCITIES\, Polis\, ERTICO\, MaaS Alliance\, AER and European knowledge institutes. \nThe seminar takes place just a few steps away from Merode metrostation\, in the Autoworld museum at Parc du Cinquantenaire 11\, Brussels. Afterwards\, a network lunch will take place. \nAfter the summer break\, a detailed program and a link for registration will be send out.
