SUMMARY:Registrations open for the 2019 CIVITAS Forum Conference
DESCRIPTION:The call has opened for cities to host the CIVITAS Forum Conference in 2019. All European cities interested in doing so are invited to apply. \nThe Conference is the annual flagship event of the CIVITAS Forum Network of cities and Europe’s premier conference in the field of sustainable urban mobility. \nHosting it offers a city an excellent opportunity to showcase and share its successes and achievements in the field of clean and sustainable urban transport. With high media interest and the presence of high-ranking politicians\, a city has the chance to place itself at the forefront of the sustainable urban transport community and on the international map. \nEach conference attracts over 400 participants\, who form a diverse community of policymakers\, city representatives\, academics\, and practitioners. \nThe CIVITAS Forum Conference takes place each year between September and October. The 2019 conference will be the 18th edition\, following fora hosted by locations as diverse as Torres Vedras\, Ljubljana\, Casablanca\, Funchal\, Malmö\, Kaunas\, and Nantes. Graz hosted the first Forum in 2003. \nThe CIVITAS Political Advisory Committee (PAC)\, INEA\, and DG MOVE are involved in the review of applications against the criteria outlined in the guidance document and the decision about the selected city. The winner will be announced at the closing session of the upcoming CIVITAS Forum in September in Umeå (Sweden). \nWe encourage cities that have submitted applications in previous years and were unsuccessful to apply again this year. \nThe guidance document below provides background information that should be read prior to submission of an application. \nSend your application via email to the CIVITAS Secretariat: secretariat@civitas.eu  with “Application for hosting the 2019 CIVITAS Forum Conference” written in the subject line of your message. DESCRIPTION:The NeMo and ELECTRIFIC (electrific.eu) projects are pleased to announce our “EV-Sys” one-day workshop taking place on Tuesday 12 June at the FZI Research Centre for Information Technology at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. \n  \nThis workshop is part of the ninth ACM International Conference on Future Energy Systems (ACM e-Energy https://conferences.sigcomm.org/eenergy/2018)\, which runs from 12 to 15 June in Karlsruhe and aims to be the premier venue for researchers working in the broad areas of smart energy systems\, smart grids\, and energy-efficient computing and communication systems. \nEV-Sys – the 3rd Workshop on Electric Vehicle Systems\, Data\, and Applications – is a full-day workshop from 09:00 to 18:00 that will examine the latest development of areas that are expected to play a major role in enhancing Electric Vehicle (EV) performance. Its main focus is on methodological concepts through the improvement of the battery management system (BMS)\, the extensive use of information and communication technologies (ICT) to increase energy efficiency and thus the range of the vehicle\, the revision of the electric and electronic architecture to reduce complexity and the number of components and interconnections\, whilst improving energy efficiency\, functionality and modularity and the development of tools and networks to enable the interoperable charging and services provision to owners of EVs. \nIt will present European advances in the area of electromobility from the NeMo and ELECTRIFIC projects\, and will include a panel discussion as well as externally submitted papers that have been peer reviewed by a programme committee and poster sessions. \nMore information and registration available here.

SUMMARY:Demos and discussions on lane-level navigation
DESCRIPTION:The inLane project comes to its conclusion in June this year with an event showcasing the future of lane-level navigation. \nOn 19 June inLane will host a final closing event at the RACC headquarters in Barcelona\, Spain. This event will present the results obtained by inLane in great detail and showcase  demonstrations of the inLane solutions. Europe cannot afford to miss this opportunity. The EU’s emphasis on digital technology and digital platforms developed in Europe should rival that of other world regions so that it stays ahead of the curve. \nTo secure the EU’s leadership on Big Data and IoT\, several challenges need to be addressed: \n\nTechnical challenges like interoperability\, scalability and platform technologies\nAwareness challenges across the industry\, such as the benefits of data driven models\nPolicy challenges\, particularly access to data\n\nThe workshop focuses on the IoT benefits for smart mobility. It includes insights about IoT solutions for smart mobility and emphasises the huge potential IoT has for developing new connected automated mobility (CAM) paradigms by focusing on the long-term target outcome and working backwards towards immediate actions needed. \nThe workshop underlines the importance of access to data in value creation. In the workshop\, access to data will be assessed on the one hand from the angle of business agreements based on a win/win approach and private public/interest concepts and on the other hand from the angle of a technical semantics interoperability (via a common ontology shared with other sectors) as a converging framework. Existing and upcoming EU data policy and legislation will be explored to define the role of regulation and its impact on access to data. The requirements for harmonious integration of the mobility solutions in the interoperable ecosystem for cities will also be discussed. \nFinally\, the feasibility of an EU platform initiative for Open Data Access will be explored. DESCRIPTION:The Horizon 2020 Energy info day will take place on 5 October in Brussels\, in the Charlemagne building. It will present the upcoming funding opportunities offered by the EU’s H2020 Programme to projects focusing on smart energy systems and smart cities and communities concepts. \n\n\n\nProgramme\nThe event will cover the following calls for funding organised in 2019: \nSmart citizen-centred energy system \n\nFlexibility and retails market options for the distribution grid\nSolutions for regional cooperation in the transmission grid\nResearch on advanced tools and technological development\nEuropean Islands Facility\nBig data solutions for energy\n\nSmart Cities and Communities \n\nCall for Smart Cities and Communities\n\nIt will also give an overview on the application and evaluation process\, and will offer a recap on lessons learnt from previous evaluations\, incl. tips for writing a good proposal. \nTwo projects\, funded in previous H2020 calls\, will share their experience. \nPresentations will be followed by Q&A sessions. \n\nDownload the agenda (pdf)\n\nRead the 2018 – 2020 H2020 Work Programme​ (p. 83 – 109) \nRegistrations\nThe registration for the info day is now open. \nDue to a very high demand\, max. of two people per organisation can be registered for the info day. \nThe info day will be webstreamed and recordings will be available after the event. \nNetworking\nThe brokerage event\, organised by the H2020 Energy National Contact Points\, will take place in parallel. DESCRIPTION:InterCor project together with UK partners of the A2M2 project is proud to invite you to the third InterCor TESTFEST taking place from 8 – 11 October 2018 in Kent\, United Kingdom. \nThe main goal of the Hybrid TESTFEST is to test the delivery of Day-1 services operating through either ITS-G5 or cellular communications in a “hybrid” communication system. It will also investigate the cross-border interoperability of these services through a separate system deployment of two distinct C-ITS systems into “Country A” and “Country B” systems. \nThis TESTFEST is open to anyone active in this field.
