SUMMARY:Seminar on Sustainable Urban Mobility in the Smart City
DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday 10 October 2018 from 10.00 – 14.00 BrabantStad organises an energetic seminar that focuses on serious deployment of Sustainable Urban Mobility in the Smart City. Today’s cities and regions in Europe face challenges in terms of congestion\, air quality\, noise\, livability\, lack of space\, global warming and sustainable economic development. The question is how will we move from a to b in the decades to come? The solutions that industry can offer have the potential to be a game changer and have a large impact on society and the way how we use public space. Developments in mobility are complex and highly dynamic\, meaning it is nearly impossible to accurately predict the future. What we know today is obsolete tomorrow\, so this has to be a story of learning by doing. Governments\, industry\, researchers\, citizens and all other stakeholders need to work together in living labs\, real life test beds and learning ecosystems. We need creativity and partnership. Main question today is ‘How to make change happen?’ and six inspiring speakers might bring us closer to the answer. \nWith a 150-minute dynamic and interactive program\, we intend to outline a number of stories in the field of Sustainable Urban Mobility. 5 minutes pitches of speakers are combined with round tables sessions of 10 minutes with the attendees. \nTopics and speakers: \n*        Moderator Meike de Jong\, Journalist and TV Anchor Dutch RTL. \n*       Anne-Marie Spierings\, Vice-Governor of Noord-Brabant and Provincial Executive for Energy Transition. \n*        Mayor Paul Depla of Breda\, on behalf of BrabantStad. \n*        Cooperative Connected Automated Mobility\, Traffic management of the future and the role of data – Stephanie Leonard\, Strategic Business Development Manager at TomTom. \n*        Strategy innovation and change management for sustainable urban mobility in the smart city – Stephanie Trpkov Energy Consultant World Bank Group. \n*        Tesla: the impact of one single company on the worldwide transition to zero emission\, energy storage and automated mobility – Tesla Benelux (tbc). \n*        Intelligent Transport and Energy Transition – Anna Domènech Abella\, Section Manager External Affairs Nissan Europe\, Barcelona. \n*        Local and regional governments as catalysts in deployment and scaling of sustainable urban mobility – Martin Tollén\, County Council Region Östergötland\, Sweden and Coordinator Mobility of Assembly of European Regions (AER). \n*        What are the ‘needs’ of the automotive industry to deploy ‘new and sustainable mobility services’ in cities and regions? – Stefan Büchele\, Deputy Director of International Cooperation at e-mobil BW State Agency for New Mobility Solutions and Automotive Baden-Württemberg in Stuttgart. \n*        Henriette van Eijl –  DG MOVE European Commission. \nInvited participants: Politicians\, policy makers\, public representatives\, entrepreneurs\, researchers\, experts and EU experts\, European partners of the European Commission\, Regions & Cities\, EUROCITIES\, Polis\, ERTICO\, MaaS Alliance\, AER and European knowledge institutes. \nThe seminar takes place just a few steps away from Merode metrostation\, in the Autoworld museum at Parc du Cinquantenaire 11\, Brussels. Afterwards\, a network lunch will take place. \nAfter the summer break\, a detailed program and a link for registration will be send out. SUMMARY:“Smart Roads for AD Cars”: IoT-Enabled Services for Automated Vehicles with the Autopilot project in Livorno
DESCRIPTION:The Internet of Things (IoT) is gaining momentum in many vertical markets\, including automotive and transportation. “Smart roads” travelled by Automated Driving cars are not the distant future. Technologies already exist\, but the added advantage and successful business cases depend on how they are integrated in user services.\nThe AUTOPILOT project is testing various use cases\, in real conditions\, at six Pilot Sites – five in the EU and one in South Korea – to prove that IoT technologies can advance automated driving. Livorno hosts the Italian Pilot Site and we would like to demonstrate our results so far and discuss them with you. \nJoin us on October 19 in Livorno! Click here to register. \nWe will give you hands-on demonstrations of AUTOPILOT’s highway and urban driving functionalities and you will be invited to tell us your impressions. The “Smart Road” national initiative by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport in Livorno is the first of its kind in Italy. You will receive an inside look into it\, and into the links with the harbour operation ecosystem.\nDuring a special workshop you will have a chance to participate in discussions about AUTOPILOT’s business cases and the opportunities and challenges in going to market. You will be able to learn more about new potential business cases and the Internet of Things as you share your views with us. \nRegardless of whether you are already convinced of the potential of IoT or need further in-depth study\, Livorno is the place to be this autumn to discuss the future of smart roads for automated driving cars! We particularly value participation from local stakeholders\, including city authorities\, public transport providers and SMEs.

SUMMARY:Traffic Management in a changing world
DESCRIPTION:On 14 and 15 November 2018\, the European ITS Platform (EU EIP) organizes its bi-annual European conference on traffic management\, the ITS Forum 2018. The main theme of the Forum is “Traffic Management in a changing world: Digitalization\, Multimodality\, Smart Infrastructures”. Jacob Bangsgaard\, ERTICO CEO; Johanna Tzanidaki\, Director of Innovation and Deployment (I&D) and Frank Daems\, Senior Manager(I&D) will attend the Forum in order to present the contributions of ERTICO in this domain. \nERTICO and its network members partners build and deploy a consistent ITS roadmap\, executing concrete projects through the TN-ITS\, TM2.0 and MaaS Alliance platforms. The focus of TN-ITS platform is strongly on the digitalization of public infrastructure and the mechanisms for seamless map data updates towards service providers. These mechanisms enable enhanced traffic management information streams and services to current smart digital infrastructures. The ever growing dynamics of services emerge via advanced MaaS activities that are further explored in the EU-EIP2 proposal initiative. TM 2.0 is advancing enhanced traffic management and looks at the organisational\, operational and services level. These topics are further elaborated in the ITS Forum sessions on ‘multimodal passenger transport in traffic management’ and ‘Traffic Management: from System to Services’. \nEvents such as the ITS Forum are essential in bringing knowledge and intelligence to the table and encouraging debate\, synergies and concrete plans for our changing world. SUMMARY:Urban Autonomous Mobility - What role for standards?
DESCRIPTION:A one-day stakeholder workshop to discuss and identify specific standardization gaps. We will discuss the challenges that different modes of transport within an urban system will experience due to autonomous mobility: \n\nWhat road infrastructure and sensors will need to be standardized to allow seamless public transport?\nHow do we create interoperability of data across road and air in a city?\n\nThe workshop will identify areas and ways in which standards help resolve some of these challenges. Participants will set the basis for a roadmap on standardization for autonomous mobility. \nERTICO’s Director of Innovation and Deployment\, Dr. Johanna Tzanidaki\, will be presenting ERTICO’s activities\, among which Safestrip. \nClick here for more information on the event.
