SUMMARY:Towards zero: Safe vehicles\, safe drivers\, safe roads
DESCRIPTION:This event\, organised by our Partner ACEA\, will look at the need for combining cutting-edge vehicle safety technologies with safer driver behaviour and better road infrastructure in order to move towards the vision of zero traffic fatalities in the future. \nGiven that the European Commission’s proposal for the revision of the General Safety Regulation is under discussion right now by the European Parliament and the European Council\, this conference will be extremely timely. \n‘Towards zero: Safe vehicles\, safe drivers\, safe roads’ acts as a follow-up to the road safety pledge that was signed by a coalition of transport stakeholders\, including ACEA\, earlier this year. SUMMARY:4th high-level dialogue on connected and automated driving
DESCRIPTION:In the 2016 Declaration of Amsterdam of the Dutch Presidency of the Council of the EU\, key issues for European cooperation in the development of connected and automated driving were fixed. Based on that\, a high-level dialogue between Member States was initiated. The forum takes places regularly under the rotating Presidency of the Member States and should render a joint approach of the EU Member States possible. \nThe inaugural meeting took place in February 2017 in Amsterdam. Following the meetings in Germany and Sweden in September 2017 and June 2018 respectively\, now Austria will invite experts to discuss current developments in the area of connected and automated driving. \nMore information on the event

SUMMARY:Multimodal sustainable transport - which role for the internalisation of external costs?
DESCRIPTION:European Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc and the Directorate-General for Transport and Mobility (DG MOVE) are inviting transport stakeholders to discuss first insights from a study on sustainable transport infrastructure charging and the internalisation of transport externalities. \nThe conference will take place at the EU conference centre Albert Borschette\, Rue Froissart 36\, 1040 Brussels-Etterbeek on 17 December 2018. \nThe event is organised as a part of the 2018 Year of Multimodality which Commissioner Bulc has called for to promote the functioning of the transport sector as a fully integrated system\, making better use of existing capacities in all transport modes\, and improving efficiency of the logistics chains. \nDuring the conference key sector experts will share their views on setting the right price for transport and there will be opportunities for you to discuss and understand the external costs across transport modes; the extent to which the “user pays” and “polluter pays” are implemented in the EU for the different modes; how the ‘playing-field’ can be balanced and how to better manage the impact of externalities. \nClick here fore more information.

SUMMARY:Intelligent Transport Systems in Greece: Latest developments
DESCRIPTION:The 5th CAPITAL training programme will take place in Athens\, Greece\, on the 18 December 2018. \nThe workshop will be held in the framework of the 4th ITS Hellas Conference entitled “Intelligent Transport Systems in Greece: Latest developments” at the Hellenic Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport\, in Athens between 18 and 19 December 2018. More information about the conference can be found here. \nThe training programme will take place between 13:45-17:00  on 18 December and we are going to have translation service. The CAPITAL session will include presentations about the project\, the training platform and good practices on ITS from municipalities of Greece. Also there will be an interactive session where the participants will have the opportunity to be trained on the deployment of ITS.  After the end of this session\, a technical visit to the Traffic Management Centre of the “Attikes Diadromes S.A.” will follow. DESCRIPTION:ICLEI Europe\, in cooperation with the EVERYWH2ERE project\, is organising a city-oriented workshop on “Upscaling Hydrogen Genets in European Cities”. The event will highlight modern Fuel Cell and Hydrogen (FCH) technologies as clean alternatives to fossil fuel generators in providing energy for construction sites\, festivals and other temporary urban events. \nWith European cities driving the decarbonisation of transport\, urban heating and cooling\, industries and services forward\, the workshop will focus on how FCH technologies as a 100% clean alternative to diesel-based generator equipment can support cities in reaching their climate and energy targets\, reduce emissions and noise and increase air quality. \nThis workshop will offer: \n\nan understanding of how hydrogen gensets can be a viable alternative to diesel generators\na platform to exchange on the necessary regulatory frameworks for deploying temporary hydrogen gensets in city areas\nthe opportunity to speak about and promote own innovative decarbonisation measures\n\nThe workshop will also serve as an entry point for becoming part of the EVERYWH2ERE Cities Interest Group to explore options for hosting hydrogen generator sets and to profit from tools and long-term recommendations generated throughout the project. \nClick here for more information.

DESCRIPTION:The European Union Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA) is organizing the first Transport Cybersecurity Conference in cooperation with the European Commission (DG MOVE)\, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)\, the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA) and the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA). \nThe continuous evolution of the transport sector and its importance across EU\, has spurred the need for cybersecurity to be considered in a coordinated manner.The increased connectivity and interdependencies between transport sectors\, introduce novel opportunities for the citizens but also raise challenges to be addressed\, notably security. \nAccordingly\, the conference will bring together international organisations\, private industry\, regulators\, academia\, and the management of EU Decentralized Agencies and EC DGs. DESCRIPTION:This seminar will be a timely opportunity to discuss priorities for the port sector\, as the UK prepares to leave the EU. The seminar will examine issues for policy\, technology and infrastructure\, as well as exploring the future of trade and competition. \nKey stakeholders and policymakers will assess factors relating to Brexit\, which are expected to affect the position of UK ports. The seminar will discuss the future of trade\, customs arrangements and border controls\, including the potential for digital borders.
