SUMMARY:eCall testing and test pass certificate meeting
DESCRIPTION:DATE: 15 May 2014\, 9h00 – 16h00 \nERTICO Office\, Brussels \nObjectives \nERTICO Partners have met in a workshop on 19 November 2013 to discuss the way to implement cost efficient eCall testing. During this workshop some ERTICO partners agreed to create a group to support eCall testing and test pass certificate. \nERTICO Partners will therefore join and use their complementary skills and experiences to define a cost-efficient testing framework for eCall components\, leading to the delivery of “Test pass” certificates. The framework is intended to be aligned with current and future requirements applying to the vehicles (Vehicle type approval). Furthermore developing a PSAP certification framework\, which could support the regulatory conformity assessment procedures is part of the objectives. \nThe activities matching the objectives will consist of: \n· Identifying the existing test specification and the corresponding test implementations \n· Studying additional requirements \n· Finding matches with regulatory requirements \n· Finding out the specific profiles applying on 2G/3G device certification (GCF scheme) \n· Documenting the results as part of a Test pass certificate framework \n· Contributing to the organisation of the next ERTICO eCall TESTFEST events (27-31 October 2014\, Vigo\, Spain) \n· Following the eCall standardisation activities (CEN – ETSI) \n· Taking any useful actions to ensure tools and services will be appropriate\, match needs and are cost efficient: \no Organising an eCall test tool workshop \no Liaise with Testing labs and test tool providers \nLooking at the evolution of eCall towards LTE is also appropriate\, as preparatory work is currently carried out at ETSI.

SUMMARY:REAL CORP 2014: PLAN IT SMART!
DESCRIPTION:19th International Conference on Urban Planning and Regional Development in the Information Society \nClever Solutions for Smart Citieswill take place21-23 May 2014\, Vienna\, Austria \nCall for papers is open until December 23rd 2013.www.corp.at \n“Smart Cities” has become a widely used term for the implementation of information and communication technologies (ICT) into the processes of cities and the built environment\, aiming to improve the integration of the physical assets as well as social and environmental capital.Fired by several rankings there seems to be a competition for the title of the “Smartest City”. This kind of hype raises a lot of questions that REAL CORP 2014 will deal with. \n• What does “Smart City” mean in terms of quality of life?• How does it influence the economic perspectives? • Are the concepts of sustainability and resilience part of “Smart Cities”?• What about politics and administration\, policies and governance?• How do “Smart Solutions” influence the “hardware” of a city\, the urban fabric?• Last but not least: what is the role of Urban/Spatial Planning in and for “Smart Cities”? \nCan we “PLAN IT SMART!” and findCLEVER SOLUTIONS FOR SMART CITIES & REGIONS? \nThe Annual REAL CORP conferences take place annually since 1996 and are well established and renowned. \nREAL CORP conferences are highly interdisciplinary and actively aim to bring together hundreds of experts from around the world. Participants come as well from public and private sector as from research. All info is online at our website www.corp.at\, where also the proceedings from all the past REAL CORP conferences are freely available.

SUMMARY:PTV - Shaping Transportation 2014
DESCRIPTION:Today we have technologies and data that can drive us to intelligent and ecologically in real time optimize the flow of people and goods on what in most countries is a finite transport network. So rather than building our way out of congestion should we not be “sweating our transport infrastructure assets” in this more enlightened fashion? \nAt this year’s Shaping Transportation conference\, taking place from 26 to 28 May in Berlin\, foremost transport policy thinkers\, sharpers and decision makers as well as our software users will discuss about “Join up Thinking – Create Intelligent Movements”. \nFor more information please visit the PTV event website

SUMMARY:National Congress and Exhibition on Intelligent Transport Systems for Highways
DESCRIPTION:Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS)\, basically defined as the application of information\, control and communication technologies to transport sector\, has become widespread in the recent years. ITS\, by nature\, requires and interdisciplinary approach. To produce successful outcomes in this field\, institutions in charge of applications have to collaborate with those of technology and science. For successful implementation of ITS for highways in Turkey\, representatives from Ministry of Interior\, Ministry of Science\, Industry and Technology\, municipalities\, TÜBİTAK\, universities\, private sector of different fields have to communicate and collaborate successfully with each other. \nIn light of latest developments\, the Ministry of Transport Maritime Affairs and Communications\, Strategy Development Directorate has been vigorously preparing an action plan for Turkey. Correspondingly\, the General Directorate of Highways (GDH) aims to extend the ITS applications on its road network. Parallel to its vision of “becoming a driving force in bringing related stakeholders in every field of road transport in Turkey and in seeking solutions in the light of scientific developments”\, the Turkish Road Association (TRA) is organising the First National Congress and Exhibition on Intelligent Transport Systems for Highways (ITS-Highways) in İstanbul on 26-28 May 2014\, in collaboration with General Directorate of Highways. \nFor more information\, visit the website.

SUMMARY:Shaping Transportation
DESCRIPTION:Berlin\, 26-28 May 2014 \nBe there when the transportation sector meets! Register now for Shaping Transportation! \nFrom 26 – 28 May 2014\, transport policy thinkers\, shapers and decision makers will discuss with you in Berlin how new concepts can create more integration for existing modes of transport. Currently\, we are experiencing a changing mobility behaviour: more and more people are using public transport or cycling instead of taking the car. This strengthening of integrated environmental-friendly transport is a positive development. However\, are our cities and municipalities truly ready for the further development of existing transport modes? \nUnder the theme Join up thinking – create intelligent movements you will be involved in lectures of: \n\nMary Crass\, Head of Policy and Summit Preparation at the OECD\nDr Peter Ramsauer\, former Transport Minister of Germany and Member of the German Bundestag\nProf. Luis Antonio Lindau\, President and Director of EMBARQ Brazil and others.\n\nOn day two\, speakers will provide insight into current projects. The wide range of issues covers strategic transportation planning\, real-time simulation and traffic forecasts as part of traffic management. A highlight every year: What’s new in PTV Visum and PTV Vissim? Be the first to get your hands on! \nEnhance your knowledge on day three by participating in our workshops. Learn in technical workshops how you are getting your transport model ready for real-time simulation or how you are how to develop an accident prediction model. Moreover we will offer a range of non-technical workshops such as developing Bus Rapid Transit\, women in transport issues or communicating transport. \nRegister now for Shaping Transportation! Registration details and a programme preview are available now online at www.ptvgroup.com/shapingtransportation. If you have any questions\, please do not hesitate to contact my team via trafficevents@ptvgroup.com or via phone +49 721 9651-7244. \nWe are looking forward to seeing you in Berlin\, \nDr.-Ing. Thomas Schwerdtfeger \nManagement Board\, PTV Group \n
