DESCRIPTION:ERTICO’s latest new project\, IN2CCAM\, will celebrate its kick-off meeting from 8 to 9 November in Bari (Italy). The project consortium will discuss the first steps to follow.  \nIntegration and Interoperability of the CCAM ecosystem\, IN2CCAM\, is the latest ERTICO EU project. Within the Connected\, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM) focus area\, this project aims to accelerate the implementation of innovative CCAM technologies and systems for passengers and goods.  \n IN2CCAM will develop and demonstrate innovative services to fully integrate CCAM into the transport system by deploying four lead living labs and two follower living labs. With a duration of 3 years duration\, the project’s 21 partners will seek to bring safety\, positive environmental impact and inclusiveness to the sector.

DESCRIPTION:Beyond the presence of ERTICO CEO Joost Vantomme at the upcoming  Transport Research Arena (TRA) Conference in Lisbon on 14-17 November\, eight of the ERTICO initiatives will actively participate in the exhibition space as well as the Conference programme. Panel discussions with industry and policy experts will examine the areas covered by the Strategy\, including innovative air mobility and aerial services and strengthening European civil\, security and defence industry capabilities. Digital Transformation in the Transport and Mobility Industry is the overarching theme of the next event held in person on Thursday\, 8 December\, from 10.00 to 16.00 in Brussels.  \nThe return of the FOCUS ON will be the first under the leadership of Joost Vantomme\, CEO of ERTICO\, since January 2022. “We are thrilled to reassume the FOCUS ON event\, a renowned event and unique opportunity for the Partnership to come together to share knowledge and thoughts on innovative solutions covering key topics around Digitalisation in ITS”\, says Mr Vantomme. \nDigitalising ITS together with our Partners \nThe FOCUS ON event next month will provide a clearer understanding of how the ITS landscape and its key players are evolving and contributing to digital platforms. DESCRIPTION:From 18 – 19 January\, at the gates of Paris\, the 50th ATEC ITS France Congress will bring together all the players and stakeholders to present the latest innovations\, encourage meetings between clients and solution providers and the deployment of new projects. This yearly event\, organised by ATEC ITS France\, is dedicated to facilitating the networking of experts to share knowledge and promote the latest industry innovations in the ITS sector. On the first day\, Mr Joost Vantomme\, ERTICO CEO\, has the pleasure of being invited as a panellist to the discussion on Decarbonisation of Mobility Infrastructure: France and Europe Aligned\, taking place at 2 PM (CET).   \nLast year\, Mr Vantomme delivered a welcome speech and highlighted the 2022 ITS European Congress in Toulouse. This time\, he will discuss the link between ITS technologies\, decarbonisation and air quality\, touching upon some of ERTICO’s activities\, such as the City Moonshot Initiative\, including the latest results and the next steps. Another key message in Mr Vantomme’s presentation will highlight the fact that ITS should be recognised as an enabler for decarbonisation\, so the joint efforts with the ERTICO Partnership and its stakeholders are accounted for and validated as sustainable investments in the taxonomy regulatory framework. On this note\, the topic of the panel discussion is also of high relevance to the 2023 ITS European Congress\, hosted in Lisbon from 22 – 24 May\, and in particular\, the Plenary Session on Digitalisation – what can mobility users expect? which will focus on what the real benefit of data sharing is and how best to tackle the challenges\, perceived or real. \n“Decarbonisation is a hot topic this year to ERTICO and all stakeholders in the field but also for European cities. ATEC ITS France Congress will be a great opportunity for everyone to kick off this discussion”\, remarks Mr Vantomme. “We will continue to deepen this debate at the Lisbon Congress and its dedicated ITS Summit\, linking the topic of decarbonisation with ‘Smart Urban Mobility for Cities and Regions‘.

The use of complementary technologies is already evident daily\, with a clear trend toward adopting (semi-) autonomous solutions. Most of these solutions operate in a distributed and decentralized manner\, so they require communication and connectivity between the elements in the system. As a result\, demand is growing for vehicles that cooperate and coordinate with each other and with infrastructure to perform more complex mobility tasks\, providing a safer and more comfortable driving experience and enabling more sustainable forms of transportation. \nThe provision of ubiquitous positioning\, navigation\, and timing (PNT) information as well as the full situation awareness of vehicles in the system\, belong to the main challenges that need to be countered in the future. Possible PNT solutions for CCAM are as diverse as their application areas and offer technological opportunities not only for passenger cars but also for buses\, trucks\, and entire infrastructures. This allows for more customized applications such as advanced traffic and parking management\, new driving assistance systems\, next-generation on-board units or traffic pricing systems. The project PrepDSpace4Mobility aims to contribute to the development of the common European mobility data space by supporting the creation of a technical infrastructure that will facilitate easy\, cross-border access to key data for both passengers and freight. Given the enormous potential of data and digital technologies\, the project is expected to have a positive impact on European competitiveness\, society\, and the environment. \nJoin this webinar to hear some of the leading experts in the field of mobility\, transport and data space technology to learn more about the preliminary results of the project and give early feedback in order to sharpen the focus as needed and requested from the real market. The workshop will take place in virtual format on January 31\, from 15.00 – 17.30 (CET) and gather suppliers and users of data\, relevant research institutes\, associations\, initiatives\, politics\, as well as technology and service providers in data spaces to ensure appropriate representation. DESCRIPTION:Queenstown\, New Zealand is set to host the country’s first ever forum on Driverless Passenger Transport\, brought to you by ITSNZ in association with Ohmio Automotion. The two-day online event\, taking place on 8 – 9 February\, will bring together over 30 international experts to discuss the role of autonomous transport solutions in solving the first and last-mile challenge in public transport. \nThe forum will be divided into four themes\, each exploring various aspects of autonomous transport. The first theme\, “The Value Proposition and Contribution to Transport Outcomes”\, will provide attendees with an understanding of the potential impact autonomous vehicles could have on public transport\, followed by the second theme which will feature a demonstration of Ohmio Automotion’s autonomous first and last-mile solution. “Technology and Standards Development” is the theme of the third panel\, kicked off by Mr Joost Vantomme\, ERTICO CEO who will provide insights into the European Roadmap for CCAM (Connected\, Cooperative and Automated Mobility) and the European agenda on Sustainable and Smart Mobility. It contributes directly to: 1) the European Union’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) goals through interoperability and standardisation of data sharing tools; and 2) responding to the constraints of the current global supply chains through enhanced and standardised data sharing instruments. \nFENIX is an ERTICO flagship project that was conceived as a result of the European Commission’s (EC’s) Digital Transport and Logistic Forum (DTLF) recommendations. \n  \nThe final event venue has the capacity to host a large number of attendees. DESCRIPTION:On 16 February 2023 (14:00-16:00 CET) the European Commission will organise a stakeholder workshop via videoconference for the upcoming Communication on creating a common European mobility data space (EMDS). \nDuring the workshop\, the Commission will present an overview of the feedback received during the Call for Evidence and the state of play of the EMDS Communication. Project partners of the Coordination and Support Action PrepDSpace4Mobility will also issue an update of the project. Participants will be able to provide input or ask questions relevant to these initiatives. \nThe public workshop is being organised under the CSA of PrepDSpace4Mobility\, for which ERTICO is a consortium partner. The Coordination and Supporting Action aims at laying the foundation for a secured and controlled way of pooling and sharing mobility data across Europe’s common European mobility data space and is in the process of mapping existing data ecosystems as this information is currently dispersed. Identifying gaps and overlaps as well as proposing common building blocks and governance frameworks in existing data space architectures\, are also tasks currently in progress under the CSA. ERTICO –ITS Europe\, through the work of its Senior Manager on Connectivity and Automation\, Dr Nikolaos Tsampieris\, is tapping into its experience and wide ITS stakeholder network and contributes to this effort towards ensuring the future deployment of a single market for mobility data. \nIf you are interested in participating in the workshop\, please register by 14 February 2023. DESCRIPTION:The EU-funded FAME project’s mission is to support the European Commission and the CCAM Partnership in coordinating CCAM R&I and testing activities in Europe. FAME is organising a workshop in Brussels on the 8 March afternoon\, in conjunction with the CCAM Partnership Multi-Cluster Meeting which will take place on 9 March.  \nPlease fill in the online application form by 03/03/2023.  \nThe objectives of this workshop will be twofold: \n\nenable R&I projects concertation in support of the CCAM Partnership’s Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) update;\ngather the needs and feedback from R&I projects and the CCAM community on the Knowledge base and the Taxonomy which is being developed as part of the European Framework for Testing.\n\nThe European Framework for Testing on Public Roads and the EU-wide Knowledge Base developed and maintained by FAME constitute key tools for projects to set up and evaluate demonstrations\, co-create and use harmonised methodologies and exchange best practices and lessons learned. The content of the Knowledge Base should also serve as a basis for the identification of future R&I and demonstration needs for updating the CCAM Partnership’s SRIA and developing future Horizon Europe Work Programmes in CCAM. \nThe first part of the workshop will discuss the needs and gaps for future large-scale demonstrations\, building on experience and lessons learned from past and ongoing EU and national R&I\, trials and demonstration projects. The outcome of this exchange will feed into the discussions for the SRIA update which will take place in the afternoon of the Multi-Cluster meeting on the next day. \nThe second part of the workshop will consist of an interactive discussion with the audience in breakout groups on the usability and future needs for the Knowledge Base and the Taxonomy. DESCRIPTION:On 16 February 2023 (14:00-16:00 CET) the European Commission will organise a stakeholder workshop via videoconference for the upcoming Communication on creating a common European mobility data space (EMDS). \nMore information on the initiativeSearch for available translations of the preceding linkEN•••. \nDuring the workshop\, the Commission will present an overview of the feedback received during the Call for Evidence and the state of play of the EMDS Communication. Project partners of the Coordination and Support Action PrepDSpace4Mobility will also issue an update of the project. Participants will be able to provide input or ask questions relevant to these initiatives. \nIf you are interested in participating in the workshop\, please register by 14 February 2023. SUMMARY:Road to Lisbon: 5GMETA Hackathon Webinar – #3 Choosing and using available data for your innovative service
DESCRIPTION:The 5GMETA project is organising its Second Hackathon in Lisbon on 22-23 May during the ITS European Congress. \nIn preparation to the event\, the 5GMETA project consortium is organising its third webinar: this online meeting will provide participants with a description of the data types that will be available on the 5GMETA Platform (during the Second Hackathon)\, an explanation on how to obtain them and a presentation of the possible ways to process them. \nThe third webinar will be a good opportunity for developers who will be able to see the utilisation of the Platform in practice\, as the main speaker\, ICOOR‘s Roberto Cavicchioli\, will show how to develop innovative services exploiting the capabilities of the Platform. \nHackathon participants and developers from the general public will be provided with better technical knowledge of the Platform and of the data that is available in “real time streaming” on the Platform. SUMMARY:MODALES will host its Final Conference on 12 May
DESCRIPTION:On 12 May\, the Horizon 2020 MODALES project\, coordinated by ERTICO\, will mark the end of its journey of almost four years with a one-day final dissemination event at the ERTICO Office in Brussels. \nMODALES has been working on solutions to reduce air pollution from all types of road vehicles. These include encouraging the adoption of low-emission driving behaviour and appropriate maintenance practices\, as well as the potential of ODB data and retrofits\, and also looking at legal aspects with respect to tampering. It is the first project that considers the interaction of powertrain\, brakes and tyres and driver behaviour to develop knowledge and guidance for low-emission driving. \nSince September 2019\, the 18 partners of the project have been working together to achieve that ambitious and important vision.
