SUMMARY:National Congress and Exhibition on Intelligent Transport Systems for Highways
DESCRIPTION:Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS)\, basically defined as the application of information\, control and communication technologies to transport sector\, has become widespread in the recent years. ITS\, by nature\, requires and interdisciplinary approach. To produce successful outcomes in this field\, institutions in charge of applications have to collaborate with those of technology and science. For successful implementation of ITS for highways in Turkey\, representatives from Ministry of Interior\, Ministry of Science\, Industry and Technology\, municipalities\, TÜBİTAK\, universities\, private sector of different fields have to communicate and collaborate successfully with each other.  \nIn light of latest developments\, the Ministry of Transport Maritime Affairs and Communications\, Strategy Development Directorate has been vigorously preparing an action plan for Turkey. Correspondingly\, the General Directorate of Highways (GDH) aims to extend the ITS applications on its road network. Parallel to its vision of “becoming a driving force in bringing related stakeholders in every field of road transport in Turkey and in seeking solutions in the light of scientific developments”\, the Turkish Road Association (TRA) is organising the First National Congress and Exhibition on Intelligent Transport Systems for Highways (ITS-Highways) in İstanbul on 26-28 May 2014\, in collaboration with General Directorate of Highways. \nFor more information\, visit the website.

SUMMARY:FOT-Net Data Stakeholder Workshop during Helsinki Congress
DESCRIPTION:The 10th European ITS Congress will take place in Helsinki\, Finland\, from 16 to 19 June 2014. During the Helsinki Congress\, the FOT-Net Data project will organise a Stakeholder Workshop. The title of workshop no. SW02 will be “Do not let large datasets go to waste!” It will take place at Messukeskus\, Expo and Convention Centre Helsinki on Tuesday 17 June 2014 from 14:00 to 15:30. \nIn Field Operational Tests (FOTs)\, huge amounts of data are gathered about the interaction between ITS and drivers\, vehicles and infrastructure. Not all data are analysed in the projects that have collected it. Re-using the data for further analyses or to answer new research questions or as test data for apps would be ideal. \nThe Workshop will take a closer look at the data available from large European FOTs and address the question how can we benefit from the data. We will look at the euroFOT (ADAS FOT) and DRIVE C2X (cooperative-systems FOT) projects\, giving an overview of types of data collected and their deployment. Also SHRP2 (US Naturalistic Driving study) data will be discussed; these are being analysed by third parties. UDRIVE\, the European NDS\, still has to start data-collection but is already preparing for data-use by others. FOT-Net Data\, the European support action dedicated to data sharing\, will explain its role in facilitating data sharing in Europe. In these tests often a huge amount of data is gathered about driver behaviour and the interaction between drivers\, vehicles\, ITS\, infrastructure and the traffic environment. These datasets are often only partly analysed because of targeted research goals and lack of resources. They may be of great value for other organisations and researchers in order to answer further research questions and to determine the impact of wide-scale use of ITS. The paper will describe a how a European platform for enabling data sharing and data re-use is being developed. \n

DESCRIPTION:The Intelligent Transportation Society of America\, ERTICO–ITS Europe\, and ITS Japan will host the 21st World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems in Detroit\, Michigan from September 7-11\, 2014\, bringing together more than 10\,000 of the world’s leading transportation policy makers\, technology\, and business professionals.\nTechnology Demonstration Participants Sought for 21st World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems\nThe conference organizers are planning to feature a live demonstration of ITS technologies.  In order to facilitate planning efforts\, the Technology Showcase Committee invites interested organizations to submit a pre-application to participate in the World Congress technology demonstrations. \nThe purpose for this pre-application is to ascertain whether an organization is interested in participating in the technology demonstrations and to collect a general description of what an organization may be considering for demonstration. \nSubmission of this application will serve as an organization’s intent to participate. A formal application process will occur at a later date\, which will be an expanded version of this form. At this time\, information submitted will be considered the demonstrator’s best guess at their possible demonstration.
