SUMMARY:Empowering mobility with secure and accessible data
DESCRIPTION:Data-driven innovation will bring enormous benefits for citizens in the area of mobility and it will reshape the way we produce\, consume and live. ERTICO is organising a two-day virtual conference supported by its valued Partner BlackBerry to promote the discussion between the private and the public sector on needs\, requirements\, business bottlenecks and safety concerns in data-powered mobility. \nThe European Commission\, in its European Strategy for Data published earlier this year refers to the establishment of the Common European Mobility Data Space that will position Europe at the forefront of the development of an Intelligent Transport System. Discussions and debates about the future of mobility continue and are more topical than ever. Due to the global health crisis caused by COVID-19\, transport policy is being re-visited and re-shaped both in Europe and globally. This dialogue is being intensified during the temporary ‘pause’ experienced by the transport sector due to COVID-19. \nThis Virtual Conference Empowering mobility with secure and accessible data will address the issues that are underpinning the effectiveness and safety in mobility and the existing mobility schemes currently available and it will discuss the potential for clean mobility at a time when priorities for decision-makers and users might be changing. A new mobility paradigm is being created out of necessity (our urge to move vs our need to be safe) and the plans of the European Commission to proceed towards common European data spaces along with the discussion on stakeholder cooperation in data sharing has to finally yield results. \nFour distinct panels will tackle these issues with distinguished speakers providing a clear direction on the new and innovative developments taking place in the mobility sector. The Virtual Conference will take place on 3 and 4 June 2020 from 14.00-16.00.  There will an opportunity for participants to pose questions to the Speaker panels. \n  \nClick here to register.\n  \nThe Virtual Conference:  Empowering mobility with secure and accessible data is organised in the context of ERTICO’s efforts to support the continued ITS conversation and the voice of the ERTICO Partnership.

SUMMARY:C-ITS City Pool training
DESCRIPTION:Are you a public authority\, road operator or traffic manager? Do you want to acquire new skills and practical knowledge to improve mobility in your city / region? Are you familiar with Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) and digitalisation? Are you curious about how other cities are managing to deploy a wide range of C-ITS services for smart mobility\, and how these are helping them making road transport safer\, greener and more efficient? \nRegister today to the C-ITS City Pool on 30 June from 14:00-16:00 CET and join other public authority representatives for an interactive online training on cooperative services for smart mobility. \nSuccessful deployment of smart mobility in our cities requires a digital transformation and new skills that public authorities need to acquire\, foster and retain. This online interactive training event will provide access to practical knowledge\, latest innovation trends and future perspectives in smart mobility. Firstly\, it will give an overview of the benefits of C-ITS adoption for urban mobility; and secondly share knowledge to build up skills needed to embrace these new technologies to their full potential. \nParticipation in the C-ITS City Pool virtual training session is free of charge. Participants in the training will be granted with a C-MobILE capacity building certificate. \nAbout the C-ITS City Pool and C-MobILE \nSince 2015 the C-ITS City Pool acts as a central meeting point between transport authorities engaged in and benefitting from C-ITS deployment and other cities / regions interested in how C-ITS can improve urban and regional mobility with the aim of raising awareness and supporting deployment. Since March 2018 the C-ITS City Pool has been an integral part of the C-MobILE Stakeholder Forum\, involving traffic managers\, road authorities and operators\, industries\, fleet operators as well as everyday road users (such as professional taxi\, bus or truck drivers\, but also vulnerable road users such as cyclists and pedestrians) with the aim of establishing functioning partnerships. With widespread implementation as the main goal\, the C-ITS City Pool serves as a one-stop-shop for cities and road authorities to receive training\, acquire knowledge\, make connections to share real-life experiences and learn about requirements\, best practices and business opportunities for on-road deployment of Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS). \nThe C-MobILE project is a consortium of 37 partners (public and private) and co-funded by the European Commission under the H2020 Programme. \nDraft Programme \nERTICO – ITS Europe will provide an overview of mobility challenges and how cooperative mobility services are increasingly contributing to a safer\, greener\, more efficient and more comfortable mobility for public authorities\, citizens and businesses. \nCERTH-HIT – will run an interactive training session\, centred on the needs of public authorities\, to make participants more familiar with C-ITS technologies and services and smart traffic management. \nThe City of Copenhagen will share their experience and lessons learnt from real life C-ITS deployment\, including relevance for and cooperation with suburban areas and neighbouring cities. \nA knowledge test and feedback survey will follow to measure how well the attendees have retained the information received and gather their opinion on the training as well as interest to get involved in future C-ITS City Pool and C-MobILE activities. \nREGISTER NOW

SUMMARY:CAD Study - Final Conference
DESCRIPTION:ERTICO\, Ecorys\, IRU\, М-Five\, SEURECO\, TRT\, UITP and VTT will present their findings as part of a European Commission Study on the impact of Connected and Automated Driving (CAD) on jobs and employment at the “CAD Study Final Conference” on 15 September 2020. \nJoin us from 10:00 to 16:30 CET to learn about and discuss  the consequences of CAD deployment on the workforce and the potential policy options for proactive action and timely response. \nThe first session will present the employment and social impacts of CAD deployment in four scenarios focusing on: \n1. The labour market (jobs created or lost);\n2. Change in required skills and competences;\n3. Change in the professional and socio-economic characteristic of the workforce in the wider road transport sector;\n4. Cross-cutting issues (e.g. gender balance\, social inclusions);\n5. Social impacts of new business models. \nThe second session will present proposed policy recommendations in key policy areas for timely action to enhance the positive and mitigate the negative effects of CAD deployment on jobs and employment. These recommendations provide policy options as inputs for a wider discussion on creating a social roadmap for CAD\, including relevant actors and specific instruments. \nThe webinar will conclude with a panel discussion by stakeholders on the implications of the CAD Study’s results and recommendations. \nThe publication of further results\, such as the full final report\, will be communicated to attendees. \nRegister here by 08/09/2020 (September 8\, Tuesday) to receive the access link and the final agenda. \nClick here to view the draft agenda. \nBackground information \nThe CAD Study\, launched by the European Commission (DG RTD) in 2019\, covers the potential impact of CAD on jobs and employment in the wider road transport sector. The social impacts of CAD deployment were studied in four scenarios – from low to high uptake of CAD technology and differentiating between futures focusing on shared or private mobility – in a timeline extending up to 2050.\nIn a layered approach\, the Study takes into account potential consequences at EU\, national and regional (NUTS2) levels for professional drivers and others in the road transport workforce\, such as those involved in infrastructure provision\, maintenance and IT personnel\, customer service\, administration\, and management. Our results\, which make a distinction between impacts on passenger and freight road transport\, also relate to the impacts in manufacturing sectors (e.g. vehicle manufacturing\, electronics and communication technologies).\nThe Final Conference marks the completion of the 16-month CAD Study. The objective is to present our results so that they can be of use to local\, national and EU authorities\, as well as the social partners in road transport to formulate future policies in regard to CAD in road transport.

SUMMARY:Transport as a Commodity and Utility Virtual Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by ITS America\, ERTICO – ITS Europe and ITS Asia-Pacific\nCurated by MOD Alliance and MaaS Alliance \nIf\, at its core\, MOD/MaaS treats transportation supply and demand as commodities\, blending both public and private sector entities in a more singular customer-driven mobility service – is it possible for our public and private road and mobility operators to achieve a fully commoditized transportation? During the “ITS World Congress ALL-ACCESS”\, MaaS Alliance and MOD Alliance will host two sessions focusing on this. \nThe Global MOD/MaaS All Access will take two sessions to explore:\n• Part 1: Wednesday\, October 7 at 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. EDT: Mobility Services as a Commodity – Does the Business Model Work? Join our distinguished panel as they pick up the threads of a controversial discussion that challenges the premise of Mobility as a Service and whether its promise to deliver choice to travelers and profit to companies can work. \n• Part 2: Thursday\, October 8 at 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. EDT: Mobility Infrastructure as a Commodity – Can On-Demand Management Work? people argue that infrastructure should be treated more like a commodity than it has been\, that limited resources like the curb and sidewalks can be optimized and that there is money to be made. Our panel will explore if “on demand” mobility infrastructure is possible. \n“ITS World Congress ALL-ACCESS” an immersive digital education event series delivering interactive education sessions\, discussion groups\, live Q&As\, recommended content\, and vendor solution presentations in the form of case-studies\, keynotes and expert panels – all accessible on demand.

SUMMARY:ELVITEN project final event
DESCRIPTION:After months of demonstrations on how Electric Light-Vehicles can be used in urban areas\, and integrated into the existing transport network\, ELVITEN project is coming to an end. \nSave the date for the final event which will be organised on 21 October 2020. \nTo register to the final event\, please click here. You can also have a look at the program here.  \nELVITEN promotes innovation\, sustainability\, and urban mobility in Europe through demonstrating the usefulness of electrified L-category vehicles (EL-Vs) for urban transportation in six pilot cities: Bari\, Berlin\, Genoa\, Malaga\, Rome\, and Trikala. Its aim is to achieve a mind shift among users and propose replicable usage schemes to address the issues surrounding the market deployment of EL-Vs. It also generated detailed guidelines for service providers and planning authorities to integrate EL-Vs into existing networks. Data and feedback have been collected and analysed from real users\, meaning ICT tools were deployed to broker and book existing charging points and EL-Vs\, engaged users and managed incentives. \nOver 40000 trips were performed during the demonstrations phase in ELVITEN 6 cities. Interestingly\, Trikala seems to be the city were EL-Vs were mostly used\, with 9841 trips\, followed by Rome with 7968 trips. During the event\, ELVITEN’s further achievements\, as well as vision will be discussed with the participants. The role of electromobility as a mean and solution towards a climate-neutral continent will also be investigated. \nELVITEN’s objective was to commit to more innovative and more sustainable transportation in Europe. Attend the final event to find out if the project reached its goal. \nWatch the ELVITEN final video to better understand the project\, and to get an overview of its most important milestones.
