One of the leading projects in the field of Cooperative\, Connected and Automated Mobility is the 5G-MOBIX Partnership project\, 5G-MOBIX has conducted several trial site demonstrations to assess the added value of 5G connectivity for Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM) services and functionalities in cross-border conditions. 5G-MOBIX trial sites include two Cross-Border Corridors (Greece-Turkey and Spain-Portugal) and six local Trial Sites in France\, Germany\, Netherlands\, Finland\, China and South Korea (bringing complementary insights to the cross-border issues trialled at the Corridors). \nNext Thursday\, 16 June\, from 2 PM to 3 PM (CEST)\, 5G-MOBIX will host a webinar to present the Finland Trial Site contributions as well as the results of testing 5G service continuity solutions focusing on the remote driving use case in a 5G multi-PLMN environment. These solutions ensure the availability of adequate vehicle-to-network connectivity for continuous transmission of the data traffic streams from the vehicle to the Remote Operations Centre (ROC)\, and timely reception of command messages from the ROC to the vehicle. \nThe webinar will also include videos from the trials and an interactive Q&A session to drive discussions on our results from the trials and lessons learnt. DESCRIPTION:A new project under ERTICO’s Connected\, Cooperative & Automated Mobility (CCAM) focus area\, SINFONICA\, is kicking off next week on 7-8 September 2022 in Brussels. \nThe SINFONICA project will address inclusivity\, accessibility and equity aspects of Cooperative\, Connected and Automated Mobility (CCAM) solutions. The needs and concerns of vulnerable user groups\, including the elderly and people with disabilities\, are at the project’s core to develop innovative and efficient methodologies to boost the deployment of CCAM solutions. To set the project’s tools and recommendations\, different activities\, including needs assessment and co-creation of solutions\, will be carried out within four specific Groups of Interest from different stakeholder categories\, covering different types of cities and regions: Trikala (Greece)\, Noord-Brabant Provincie (the Netherlands)\, West Midlands (United Kingdom)\, and Hamburg (Germany). The project results will lead to the creation of the SINFONICA Knowledge Map Explorer\, a user-friendly navigation system that will provide recommendations and guidelines on CCAM to different target groups\, including public administrations\, road users\, and service providers. \nStay tuned for more information on this new project focusing on inclusivity\, accessibility and equity aspects of CCAM solutions.

DESCRIPTION:The new SUNRISE – Safety assUraNce fRamework for connected\, automated mobIlity SystEms – project is one of the latest actions on the Cooperative\, Connected\, and Automated Mobility (CCAM) sector launched by the European Commission through its executive agency\, CINEA. ERTICO will participate in the kick-off meeting that will take place in Brussels on 20-21 September.  \nThe consortium coordinated by IDIADA and consisting of 27 partners will present the way forward and will delineate the coordination plan for the next months. At the event\, stakeholders and involved partners will have the opportunity to gather information\, engage in debates and coordinate their actions for the next months. The scope of the project is to define\, implement and demonstrate the building blocks of safety assurance technologies and systems. It also aims at defining a harmonised approach to enable the massive deployment of highly automated vehicles. \nThe project will build upon HEADSTART\, a previous EU-funded project\, as well as on other initiatives\, and will develop and demonstrate a commonly accepted\, extensible Safety Assurance Framework for the test and safety validation of a varied scope of CCAM systems. \nThis will be achieved by: \n\nBringing the needs of heterogeneous CCAM use cases.\nDefining a scenario-based database framework that will broaden the HEADSTART methodology.\nHolistically addressing the CCAM test scenario generation.\nPreparing the required tools for comprehensive testing – virtual and physical – taking into account robustness\, scalability\, interoperability\, quality and standardization.\nIntegrating functional safety and cybersecurity.\nInvolving the use cases from the initial stages\, acting as a guiding principle within the project.\n\nThe long-term goal of the SUNRISE project is to accelerate the safe deployment of innovative CCAM technologies and systems for passengers and goods by creating a demonstrable and positive impact on safety. This is in line with  EU’s long-term goal of moving close to zero fatalities and serious injuries by 2050 (Vision Zero)\, and the resilience of road & transport systems. SUNRISE will work closely with CCAM stakeholders as policymakers\, regulators\, consumer testing\, user associations and all relevant stakeholders. \n  \nSUNRISE project has received funding from the European Union’s HORIZON Research and Innovation Actions under grant agreement No 101069573.

SUMMARY:New project\, PoDIUM is about to kick-off
DESCRIPTION:ERTICO’s new project under the Connected\, Cooperative & Automated Mobility (CCAM) focus area\, PoDIUM\, is kicking off on 20-21 October in Athens. The whole consortium as well as the Project Officer from the European Commission will gather to discuss the project’s first steps. \nPoDIUM aims to identify and assess the connectivity and cooperation enablers and needs to reach higher levels of automation. This will be achieved through the demonstration in real-life conditions of defined CCAM use cases in 3 Living Labs in Germany\, Italy\, and Spain\, in urban\, highway\, and cross-border environments. Using a multi-connectivity approach and an interoperable and hybrid data management environment will contribute to accelerating important technologies in Physical and Digital Infrastructure (PDI) and creating new business ventures. SUMMARY:IN2CCAM\, the latest ERTICO EU project to kick-off
DESCRIPTION:ERTICO’s latest new project\, IN2CCAM\, will celebrate its kick-off meeting from 8 to 9 November in Bari (Italy). The project consortium will discuss the first steps to follow.  \nIntegration and Interoperability of the CCAM ecosystem\, IN2CCAM\, is the latest ERTICO EU project. Within the Connected\, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM) focus area\, this project aims to accelerate the implementation of innovative CCAM technologies and systems for passengers and goods.  \n IN2CCAM will develop and demonstrate innovative services to fully integrate CCAM into the transport system by deploying four lead living labs and two follower living labs. With a duration of 3 years duration\, the project’s 21 partners will seek to bring safety\, positive environmental impact and inclusiveness to the sector.

SUMMARY:ERTICO Projects at TRA Conference 2022
DESCRIPTION:Beyond the presence of ERTICO CEO Joost Vantomme at the upcoming  Transport Research Arena (TRA) Conference in Lisbon on 14-17 November\, eight of the ERTICO initiatives will actively participate in the exhibition space as well as the Conference programme. As the largest European research and technology conference focusing on transport and mobility\, the event presents a great opportunity to showcase the projects’ results\, and lessons learnt. \nOn the first day\, Monday 14 November\, Mr Vantomme will participate in Session 1.3 on Artificial Intelligence (AI)  for Smart and Sustainable Mobility\, which takes place from 15.15 to 16.30. Join the discussion to hear more about the (potential) roadblocks and enablers of AI\, but also questions on the current state of development and application of AI in mobility and transport as well as its benefits and opportunities. \nLearn about the ERTICO Projects at TRA \nSTORM\, one of our core projects within ERTICO’s logistics focus area\, will be presented at the ALICE booth\, where project partners will discuss STORM and other EU projects. \nAnother project belonging to the transport and logistics focus area is 5G-LOGINNOV\, which will have a booth at the ALICE stand. Join the FENIX session on Wednesday 16\, from 17:00 to 18:00/18:30 at the ALICE theatre to discover what the FENIX project has to offer to the logistics actors across Europe. \nDiscover more about MODALES\, one of ERTICO’s “Clean & Eco Mobility” projects\, at the joint Invited Session “Reduction of transport impact on air quality” on Tuesday\, 15 November\, from 08:30 to 10:00. The session will discuss the experiences and results of MODALES and similar EU-funded projects and will explore new tools and methods to decrease emissions of the current fleet of vehicles\, vessels\, and aircraft. \neCharge4Drivers\, another project in our “Clean & Eco Mobility” focus area\, will also participate in a joint Invited Session on “User-centric and smart charging solutions for future-proof electromobility” on Monday 14 November\, from 17:00 to 18:30 in Room 5C. Two papers will also be presented at TRA: “E-driver\, what about your charging infrastructure? A large-scale European study on charging habits\, perceptions\, concerns and expectations” and “Development of Smart Charging Scheduling and Power Management Strategy of a PV-ESS based Multiuser EV Charging Station”. The consortium members will participate in several activities\, including various sessions and technical papers\, to present the project’s latest updates and participate in the discussion of automated driving in public transport. SHOW will have a permanent representation at the UITP Stand\, the project coordinator\, where VIF\, RISE and IOKI will present the video simulations related to the test sites\, the project’s dashboard and the passenger’s book app\, respectively. \nFinally\, ERTICO multi-stakeholder innovation platform TN-ITS also participates in the Transport Research Arena\, presenting a paper on the initiative’s Technical Specification.

SUMMARY:Ride2Autonomy hosts Final Conference
DESCRIPTION:The Ride2Autonomy Final Conference is set to take place as a side event of the TRA 2022 Conference in Lisbon\, on Thursday\, 17 November. Join this final event to learn about the10 AV-pilot experiences and Ride2Autonomy’s guides and tools to facilitate Connected Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM) planning and pilot implementation. \nRide2Autonomy (R2A) is an EU-funded project that demonstrates autonomous shuttle services and their integration into the public transport system in ten EU cities: Aveiro (PT)\, Barcelona (ES)\, Contern (LU)\, Esch (LU)\, Inverness (UK)\, Pfaffenthal (LU)\, Reggio Emilia (IT)\, Tampere (FI)\, Tartu (EE)\, and Trikala (EL)\, aiming to accelerate the uptake of innovative\, inclusive\, user-oriented and well-integrated automated shuttle solutions for passengers\, and increase the public acceptance and use of automated shuttle solutions through fostering a clear understanding of its benefits and limits.  \n“ERTICO will participate as a knowledge partner and member of the Project Management Team in the Ride-to-Autonomy pilot project coordinated by Rupprecht Consult.
