SUMMARY:C-ITS TRAINING AND CITY POOL WORKSHOP
DESCRIPTION:This full day of training and exchanges on Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) provides a space where transport authorities can learn about best practices of successful implementations across Europe\, share and receive feedback on real-life deployment experiences. \nAre you familiar with C-ITS? \nAre you curious about how other cities managed to deploy a wide range of C-ITS services\, and how this helped them improving traffic safety and efficiency? \nThis event dedicated to training and exchanges on C-ITS deployment is the perfect opportunity for public authorities to get access to practical knowledge\, concrete demonstrations\, and latest innovative C-ITS trends. The morning training session\, provided by the experts and city practitioners of the CAPITAL training project\, will explore the deployment of C-ITS services in cities. \nSince 2015\, the C-ITS City Pool acts as a central meeting point between transport authorities committed to C-ITS deployment and other cities / regions interested in how C-ITS can improve urban & regional mobility\, in view of raising awareness and supporting deployment. \nJoin the C-ITS Training and City Pool Workshop and learn from other cities about C-ITS and what it can bring to your community\, but also what hurdles you should expect when trying to implement. Share knowledge\, gather best practices\, speak with your peers and make arrangements for follow-up contacts and collaborations. \nThe participation in the workshop is free of charge but registration is required. Registration will be announced at a later date. \nDraft Programme \n09:00-12:30        Training Workshop \nA training interactive session with C-ITS professionals and transport practitioners\, organized by the European project CAPITAL \n12:30-13:30        Lunch \n13:30-14:30        Technical Showcase \n                                Privileged access to the ITS European Congress C-MobILE demonstration of C-ITS applications \n14:30-17:00        C-ITS City Pool Workshop \nA workshop to share and receive feedback on real-life deployment experiences\, which includes a matchmaking session for cities and transport authorities with C-ITS professionals organised by the European project C-MobILE.

SUMMARY:The Role of Cities in the Smart Mobility Economy
DESCRIPTION:ERTICO is a proud supporter of the global debate on “The Role of Cities in the Smart Mobility Economy”\, organised by Durham University and taking place on Friday 14 June in Paris.\n\nBy 2030\, 60 percent of the world’s population will live in cities\, up from about 50 percent today. Over the same period\, more than two billion people are likely to enter the middle class\, with the majority of them living in cities in emerging markets. The number of megacities with more than ten million people will continue to grow. Many people entering the global middle class will want to buy cars: automobile sales are expected to increase from about 70 million a year in 2010 to 125 million by 2025\, with more than half forecasted to be bought in cities. Some automotive analysts have gone as far as predicting that on the existing trajectory\, today’s 1.2 billion strong global car fleet could double by 2030.\n\nThe existing urban infrastructure cannot support such an increase in vehicles on the road. Congestion is already close to unbearable in many cities and can cost as much as 2 to 4 percent of national GDP\, by measures such as lost time\, wasted fuel\, and increased cost of doing business. Between 2013 and 2030\, it is estimated that traffic congestion may cost the British economy as much as £307 billion. Transport creates emissions of greenhouse gases; smog presents serious public-health concerns. The World Health Organization estimated in 2014 that seven million premature deaths are attributable to air pollution\, and a significant share is the result of urban transit.\n\nSolving the mobility challenge will require bold\, coordinated actions from the private and public sectors for gaining public acceptance of emerging technological solutions and creating new regulatory frameworks across Europe and beyond. Technological advances and commercialization\, crowd-funding\, intelligent policies\, and business-model innovation will be needed to realize productivity improvements while creating more sustainable innovative environments in our cities and metropolitan areas.\n\nRegistrations are open! Click here to register.\n\nMore information is available here.

SUMMARY:ADASIS internal meetings - Members only
DESCRIPTION:ADASIS Members are meeting in Budapest\, hosted by Member NNG. \nAdvanced Driver Assistance Systems need to access and use map data\, vehicle position\, speed\, as well as other data in order to improve the performance of these applications and/or to enable new functionalities e.g. automated driving. \nHowever\, navigation map databases are inaccessible to applications outside of the navigation system and are stored in the proprietary format of the navigation system. ADASIS is providing the solution. \nClick here for more information about ADASIS.

SUMMARY:The future of road transport
DESCRIPTION:Launch event of JRC report “The future of road transport – Implications of automated\, connected\, low-carbon and shared mobility” A perfect storm of new technologies and new business models is transforming not only our vehicles\, but everything about how we get around\, and how we live our lives. The JRC report “The future of road transport – Implications of automated\, connected\, lowcarbon and shared mobility” looks at some main enablers of the transformation of road transport\, such as data governance\, infrastructures\, communication technologies and cybersecurity\, and legislation. It discusses the potential impacts on the economy\, employment and skills\, energy use and emissions\, the sustainability of raw materials\, democracy\, privacy and social fairness\, as well as on the urban context. It shows how the massive changes on the horizon represent an opportunity to move towards a transport system that is more efficient\, safer\, less polluting and more accessible to larger parts of society than the current one centred on car ownership. However\, new transport technologies\, on their own\, won’t spontaneously make our lives better without upgrading our transport systems and policies to the 21st century. The improvement of governance and the development of innovative mobility solutions will be crucial to ensure that the future of transport is cleaner and more equitable than its car-centred present. \nFor more information and to view the agenda\, click here.
