SUMMARY:Connecting Europe Days 2024
DESCRIPTION:Organised on 2-5 April in Brussels by the European Commission\, the European Climate\, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency\, and the Belgian Presidency of the EU\, the Connecting Europe Days will gather politicians\, financial institutions\, industry representatives\, transport stakeholders\, and the European Commission to discuss and exchange ideas on achieving a fully decarbonised\, resilient\, seamless\, and digital transport network across Europe. The event will evaluate progress towards the ambitious targets outlined in the EU Green Deal and the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy. \nA key focus will be on the updated trans-European transport network (TEN-T) Regulation\, which introduces nine new European Transport Corridors and a restructured governance system overseen by eleven European TEN-T Coordinators. Discussions will also explore future funding mechanisms for infrastructure projects and enhancing infrastructure climate resilience. \nConsidering challenges to transport connectivity\, the conference will explore vulnerabilities in the EU Single Market. Sessions will examine the EU transport network’s role in maintaining connectivity with neighbouring countries and its ability to withstand external threats while ensuring preparedness and resilience. \nTwo ERTICO projects\, PoDIUM and ENVELOPE will be showcased at the event. Christian Kleine\, President of the TN-ITS platform\, joins a panel discussion on “Data-Driven Mobility and Transport Policy: The Role of Artificial Intelligence (AI).” The session will delve into key areas like AI\, data sharing\, interoperability\, and data quality control. The DFRS platform marks a significant milestone at the event with the signing of a Collaboration Agreement with TISA.

TRA2024 will provide a shared opportunity to push the boundaries of what we know and to chart new territories in transport research. \nIn commemoration of its 30th anniversary\, the ITS World Congress in Dubai is an annual celebration of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and Smart Mobility. ERTICO invites the wider community of mobility stakeholders and cities worldwide to partake in this landmark event\, promising an environment where innovation converges with collaboration and networking opportunities. SUNRISE member ICCS\, ERTICO’s partner\, will present a paper titled “Collective Perception Virtual Safety Validation in Urban Environments: Scenarios\, Tools\, Metrics”\, which is related to SUNRISE “cooperative perception testing”. \nDuring TRA2024\, ERTICO will also explore smart mobility intricacies\, sharing updates on projects and innovation platforms. Several projects in which ERTICO is involved will also participate in this important event for the mobility and transport sector. PoDIUM will be presented in Special Session 4.4 CCAM session on physical/digital Infrastructure on Wednesday 17 April from 09:45 to 11:00. The Project Coordinator\, Lazaros Gkatzikis from ICCS\, will focus on the multi-connectivity aspects of the project and how this enables the development of advanced CCAM services. \nAlso\, don’t miss out on the opportunity to learn more about eCharge4Drivers during lunchtime at the European Commission’s stand. PLOTO will be featured alongside the ReNEW and CRISTAL projects at a shared booth within the ETP-ALICE stand\, providing a designated focal point for discussions on Inland Waterways. \nThe ALICE booth will also showcase projects from the AEVETO Cluster\, which aims to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles for medium and heavy-duty applications. ERTICO project NextETRUCK will be displayed at TRA as part of the cluster\, presenting its latest updates on use cases for decarbonizing urban deliveries. \nThe SHOW project\, nearing its completion in September 2024\, will be represented at the UITP stand\, by the project coordinator\, to engage with stakeholders and discuss the project’s legacy.
