The Verkehrsbetriebe Hamburg-Holstein GmbH (VHH), the bus operator serving districts in Hamburg and its metropolitan area, is investing some € 10 million in a new infrastructure for operating and maintaining electric busses.

Starting in 2020, VHH will procure only emission-free busses with battery-powered, 100% electric motors. The switch to exclusivley electric busses will require an overhaul to current infrastructure including garages, charging stations and dispatch systems. It will also be necessary to train staff on new equipment and procedures.
