The government of Luxembourg has developed a plan to ensure a national charging network for electric vehicles across the whole country by 2020.

Every commune in Luxembourg will host at least one charging point, with Luxembourg City taking around 100 of the total. This will ensure that electric car owners do not have to worry about running out of power, and encourage drivers in the country to switch to an electric car.

The installation of the charging points will be phased in over the next few years. By July 2017 half of the charging points will be in operation; 80 per cent will be ready in summer 2019; and all 800 charging points will be fully operational by the end of 2020.
