MOBI smart mobility consortium has awarded the European project NeMo – Hyper-Network for Electromobility with first award in category ‘Most Feasible Entry’ in the MOBI Grand Challenge. The award ceremony took place on 12-13 November 2019 during the MOBI Colloquiums and Exhibitions in Los Angeles, United States.

The MOBI Grant Challenge 2 Citopia explores new solutions for human mobility to create smarter and greener cities, improving quality of life. NeMo’s efforts to create an open, distributed and widely accepted ecosystem for electro-mobility earned the project the prestigious award which was received by Thomas Walz from IBM (pictured) on behalf of the NeMo consortium partners.

MOBI is a nonprofit smart mobility consortium working with more than 100 forward-thinking companies, governments, and NGOs to make mobility services more efficient, affordable, greener, safer, and less congested by promoting standards and accelerating the adoption of blockchain, distributed ledgers, and related technologies in the mobility industry.

MOBI organises challenges twice a year. The MOBI Grant Challenge 2 Citopia explores new solutions for human mobility to create smarter and greener cities, improving quality of life. Thomas Walz from IBM (pictured) received the prize on behalf of the NeMo consortium partners.

The MOBI Grand Challenge (MGC) was launched in October 2018, and is modelled on the DARPA (United States Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) Grand Challenge for autonomous driving which captured the public imagination and launched the autonomous driving revolution. MGC is sponsored by MOBI, the Mobility Open Blockchain Initiative and TIoTA, the Trusted IoT Alliance. The goal of the challenge is to create the first viable, decentralized, ad-hoc network of blockchain connected IoT and smart infrastructure that can reliably share data, participate in transactions, coordinate behaviour, and thereby improve human mobility.
