On 6 June 2013 Amitran presented its scaling-up methodology in a technical paper in the ITS European Congress in Dublin. Dick Mans from Amitran partner ECORYS explained how the development of a generic scaling-up methodology aims to translate CO2 emission effects from a local level to a larger (e.g. European) level.
For scaling up, two methods are distinguished: a direct method using statistics and one using a macroscopic multimodal traffic model. The selection of the method to be used depends on the type of expected effects and availability relevant models.
On the same day, Dick Mans also presented some of the key results from Amitran so far at the NEARCTIS project’s Final Conference at Trinity College in Dublin. NEARCTIS (A Network of Excellence for Advanced Road Cooperative traffic management in the Information Society) is an Academic Network gathering the main teams working on the field of traffic management and optimisation, with a particular focus on cooperative systems for road traffic optimisation. The conference showcased project results from Amitran and two related projects: ECOSTAND and ICT Emissions, as well as results of PhD research in cooperative ITS, and sessions on spreading excellence and gap analysis.
