Pescara municipal officials, including the mayor, took to the streets of the southern Italian city last month to get the opinions of residents on how to improve sustainable mobility.

Mayor Marco Alessandrini, together with the deputy mayor and councillor for mobility, and other municipal officials responsible for roads and mobility, asked passers-by to fill out questionnaires related to improvements to the cycling network. The deputy mayor and councillor for mobility, Enzo Del Vecchio, called the consultation a success.

‘More than a hundred people stopped and completed questionnaires, and expressed curiosity and appreciation for the attention of the administration to a truly sustainable mobility for the city,’ he said. This first phase of public involvement in the cycling network is the first of five attempts the city is undertaking to engage citizens in the decision-making process.
