Now, Bristol is willing to help other cities around the world to ‘go green’ by sharing its experience and knowledge.
The city is doing this through a free online toolkit called The Bristol Method which documents everything Bristol has learnt from its year as European Green Capital so other cities can benefit.
The Bristol Method is made up of a series of modules, or chapters. Each one is presented as an easy-to-digest ‘how-to’ guide on a particular topic, which use Bristol’s experiences as a case study.
The modules contain generic advice and recommendations that each reader can tailor to their own circumstances. Within the theme ‘Transport(link is external)’ four different modules can be found, explaining the most relevant aspects:
- How to get more people riding bikes and walking
- How to increase public transport use
- How to create liveable communities
- How to reduce traffic and its impacts
