Local transport emissions will be cut with the introduction of cleaner burning biogas.
A newly built biogas plant near the Swedish city of Lidköping will produce the equivalent of six million litres of petrol per year. Biogas plants are particularly suitable for agricultural areas which produce a substantial amount of organic waste. This waste is macerated, mixed, and heated to 38 degrees Celsius before the biogas is separated out from the resulting fertiliser.
