The four car makers have teamed up to launch a blockchain research group with other 30 funding members, including two other ERTICO partners, Bosch and IBM. The new launched solution is called MOBI – Mobility Open Blockchain Initiative – and aims to accelerate the adoption of blockchain, distributed ledger and related technologies, reshaping the way organizations and products use and consume data.
This is not the first time that the car industry works together with other key industry players to provide services which go beyond the automotive sector. More in detail, MOBI will focus on payment systems, data tracking, supply management, consumer finance and pricing and areas such as autonomous vehicles and ride-sharing systems.
