To improve its reputation with both residents and visitors, new measures have been proposed to cut down Brussel’s notorious traffic.
The Belgian capital’s new mayor, Yvan Mayeur, is intent on reducing the car traffic in Brussels’ busy city centre. The capital is afflicted with very heavy road traffic on the broad boulevards which cross the old city. The mayor’s plan is to turn one of these, Boulevard Anspach, into an entirely pedestrianised street linking to current pedestrianised zones around the Grand Place and Rue Neuve.
