The Transport Systems Catapult is looking for a small or medium enterprise to develop the winning design of the All Aboard competition, a vibrating wristband that helps visually or hearing impaired people using buses, into a working prototype.

The All Aboard competition, run on behalf of the Department for Transport, invited students aged between 14-18 to come up with innovative solutions to make buses more accessible for people with visual or hearing impairments.

The winner was announced on the 13th March at the Big Bang fair, the largest celebration of engineering and science for young people in the UK. Daria Buszta, a 17-year-old student from Nottingham’s Bilborough College, was named the competition’s winner after impressing an expert panel of judges, headed by Transport Minister Baroness Kramer.
