Contract value for implementation reaches USD 79 million (about EUR 64 million)

Kapsch TrafficCom AG (ISIN AT000KAPSCH9) listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange in the prime market segment reveals that its subsidiary Kapsch TrafficCom IVHS has been selected to design build and integrate the Managed Lane System (MLS) for both the North Tarrant Express (NTE) and LBJ Express projects in Dallas and Tarrant Counties in North Texas. The project scope for Kapsch encompasses delivery of a Toll Collection System (TCS) Intelligent Transport System (ITS) and Network Communication System (NCS) creating a fully integrated MLS. The agreement signed today extends to more than thirty miles of “managed lanes” – specifically used administrated and tolled lanes to arrange the traffic according to different requirements and demands – with 65 toll lanes and 33 toll zones. The total contract value for the implementation of the system reaches approximately USD 79 million (about EUR 64 million). The first phase of the system will start operation in August 2013.

Kapsch TrafficCom IVHS has assembled a team of highly-qualified experienced civil ITS and network infrastructure providers which includes a number of local Texas-based companies and organisations. This team complements the electronic tolling capabilities as well as for the first time in North America the overall system and project management as it has been successfully provided by Kapsch for many years as part of its end-to-end solutions around the globe. The project will be managed from the local project management office of Kapsch in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

According to Chris Murray President of Kapsch TrafficCom IVHS “We’re delighted to have been selected as a supplier of a total system for the first time in the USA. This project will be one of North America’s newest and premier transportation systems. Hence Kapsch has established its position in the supply of systems and has achieved another milestone towards becoming an end-to-end solutions provider in the North American market.”

“Winning the NTE and LBJ projects represent a major accomplishment for Kapsch in North America and confirms the adopted strategic path to deliver superior end-to-end solutions in the highly competitive North American market” says Georg Kapsch Chief Executive Officer of Kapsch TrafficCom Group.
