Cubic Corporation announced that its Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS) business division will demonstrate its proof of concept for a connected in-vehicle information system at CAV Scotland 2018 in Edinburgh, from October 31–November 1. CAV Scotland is a new event that brings together global experts in connected and autonomous vehicles (CAV) with live demonstrations that aim to assess the latest developments and discuss the way forward with future trials and research across the world.
“Cubic is delighted to participate in the connected and autonomous vehicle discussion and demonstrate novel connectivity and messaging technology that could help Scotland benefit from safer, lower cost CAV deployment,” said Matt Cole, president, CTS. “Our proof of concept will showcase Cubic’s global leadership in information delivery to both travelers and transportation operators through our payment and information systems currently in use around the world.”
The following proof of concept will be displayed at stand #E55:
- Connected In-Vehicle Information System: delivering in-vehicle signage known as Virtual Variable Message Sign (VMS) using standard cellular communications and equipment installed and available in production cars. The use of MirrorLink smartphone integration enables an effective channel of communication into the built-in infotainment units on the car dashboard screen. A series of Virtual VMS messages will be presented in real time as the vehicle travels the course, demonstrated by a live video feed to the car. Visitors will be able to ride in the two test vehicles and learn how the technology works.
