Public Authorities Platform Conference Call on eCall
January 28, 2014 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
The proposed deployment date for Pan European eCall based on 112 is scheduled for October 2015. For Member States to be able to achieve this deployment date, there is a requirement for a complete understanding of what is required from a Member State, its PSAP, Mobile Network Operators and Emergency Services, to be able to respond effectively to this new technology.
ERTICO has been at the very heart of eCall deployment since 2002, and is currently the project coordinator for both of the HeERO projects who are actively guiding 15 member states to eCall readiness, along with another 6 countries who are being supported through the HeERO associate partner scheme.
We would like to bring this expertise to good use by providing dedicated and specific information to the ERTICO Public Authority Platform in understanding the necessary steps for eCall deployment.
As a first step ERTICO will stage a Conference Call on the 28th January 2014, in two identical sessions (for the flexibility of platform members) with the objective of starting this process. To assist in making this conference call a targeted event, we would ask that Public Authority Platform members forward to Andy Rooke, the HeERO Coordinator, the questions that are currently being asked in your respective countries. Please find questions received from the Swedish Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications as an example.
Please be advised that this Phone Conference will focus on deployment related questions. In case you have any questions or comments in the context of the European Commission legislative proposals, please send them directly to the European Commission using the following e-mail address: MOVE-ITS@ec.europa.eu.
From the work already carried out in HeERO it is very clear that there is no one solution for eCall, each solution will need to fit the requirements of the respective member state.
The event on the 28th January 2014, has been broken into 2 sessions:
10.00hrs to 12.00hrs
14.00hrs to 16.00hrs
To assist in planning for the event, please indicate to Andy Rooke, which session you would like to attend and send him your questions: firstname.lastname@example.org. To ensure that the event goes smoothly we would ask you all to have responded by 17th January 2014.
