The 16th ITS European Congress, organised by ERTICO – ITS Europe in close partnership with the City of Seville, and in collaboration with the European Commission, the Spanish Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, the Ministry of the Interior, the Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT), Junta de Andalucía, and ITS España, will take place from 19–21 May 2025 at the FIBES Conference and Exhibition Centre.
Under the unifying theme “Clean, Resilient, and Connected Mobility” the Congress will bring together over 3,500 participants from across Europe and beyond, including public authorities, industry leaders, startups, researchers, and academia, to explore the technologies and strategies shaping the future of mobility. Strong representation of Spanish national, regional, and municipal stakeholders reflects the country’s deep commitment to driving forward sustainable, intelligent transport solutions.
This prestigious Congress stands as a cornerstone of ERTICO’s mission to advance smart, sustainable transport systems across Europe. The 2025 edition in Seville promises to be one of the most dynamic yet, offering participants an ambitious technical programme, networking opportunities, strategic discussions, and interactive demonstrations of the latest ITS innovations.
A Dynamic Day-by-Day Technical Programme
The Technical Programme of the Congress spans three days and includes more than 100 sessions led by over 400 mobility experts. These include Organised Sessions, Special Interest Sessions (SIS), Special Future Sessions (SFS), and Technical and Research Paper presentations.
The agenda covers a wide spectrum of themes, from Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM) to AI-driven traffic management, 5G, digital infrastructure, multimodal logistics, and Big Data. The content highlights the real-world application of innovation, with contributions from policymakers, city officials, and industry experts actively scaling and deploying ITS solutions in urban environments.
Each day of the Congress will include a Plenary Session featuring global thought leaders from public and private sectors. These plenaries set the tone for the day’s thematic focus and are followed by interactive panel discussions, in-depth technical sessions, and site visits to cutting-edge projects in and around Seville. A diverse and international lineup of speakers ensures wide-ranging perspectives that reflect Europe’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity in mobility.

Opening and Closing Ceremonies
The Opening Ceremony will take place on Monday, 19 May, setting the tone for the Congress with speeches from distinguished representatives of ERTICO, the City of Seville, and European institutions such as José Luis Sanz, Mayor of Seville, and Juan Manuel Moreno, President of the Regional Government of Andalusia, underscoring Spain’s commitment to advancing smart mobility solutions.
Attendees will be officially welcomed to the Congress, and the ceremony will highlight the importance of collaborative efforts to address Europe’s mobility challenges through innovative ITS solutions. Apostolos Tzitzikostas (European Commission) and Fernando Grande-Marlaska (Minister of Interior, Spain) will inaugurate the ITS European Congress 2025, setting the tone for a transformative event focused on smart, sustainable, and inclusive mobility.
Mar Cogollos (Director, AESLEME), will inspire the audience with her powerful story of resilience and dedication to road safety advocacy highlights the human impact of inclusive transport.
The Closing Ceremony, scheduled for Wednesday, 21 May, will mark the conclusion of the event and will feature the presentation of Best Paper Awards, recognition of key contributors, and reflections on the Congress’ key outcomes , while also offering a glimpse into what lies ahead at future ITS Congresses in Istanbul 2026 and Birmingham 2027. It will be followed by a Farewell Reception, offering a final opportunity for participants to network, celebrate achievements, and strengthen connections before departing.
