The Hanseatic city and Wunder Mobility are launching a unique platform to make new mobility offers more transparent marking a first in Germany. This comes amid the rising importance of sustainable urban mobility, environment-friendly, forward-looking mobility offers such as shared taxise-scootersor rental bicycles. The partners will document and analyse the use of e-scooters in a first step.

Sustainable mobility – joint project

“We believed that sustainable mobility is a joint project,” said Gunnar Froh, founder and CEO of Wunder Mobility. Networking and interaction among different components and partners is thus vital. The new platform will give an overview of other mobility services such as car sharing, e-scooter-sharing, bike sharing and ride sharing services, Froh added. The Hamburg-based Wunder Mobility has developed the technology for the platform and will help the city analyse the data to identify problems, create practicable alternatives to individual transport and increase the quality of life in Hamburg through environment-friendly mobility solutions.

Hamburg pioneering sustainable mobility concepts

The co-operation with Wunder Mobility offers an opportunity to understand the demands, which new mobility places on the city and the measures required to ensure efficient interaction between the various mobility services, said Michael Westhagemann, Senator for Economics. Hamburg intends to play a pioneering role in mobility, especially in view of the upcoming ITS World Congress, which Hamburg is hosting in October 2021. “The city of Hamburg is determined to set Europe-wide standards for sustainable mobility concepts,” Westhagemann added.
