ITS America is pleased to announce that its Board of Directors has affirmed the selection of Montreal, Canada, as the site of the 2017 World Congress on ITS. Pat McGowan, an ITS America board member and President of Schneider Electric Transportation N.A., chaired the selection committee that reviewed over 20 proposals or expressions of interest in hosting the 24th World Congress, the eighth to be held in the Americas, and the second in Canada since Toronto in 1999.

“The level of interest was high and the three finalists — Montreal, Los Angeles and Vancouver — all had very strong submissions,” said McGowan. “We are pleased to recommend Montreal as host, given its high level of civic support, the opportunity to showcase the city’s advances in ITS, and the economic package offered to support the planning and execution of the week-long World Congress program.”

When informed of the selection, Michael de Santis, Chair of ITS Canada noted, “we are extremely thrilled that Montreal was chosen to host the 24th ITS World Congress in 2017.”

In addition to the World Congress, Montreal will be celebrating its 375th anniversary as well as the 50th anniversary of the World Fair Expo67. A vibrant multicultural city with its unique joie de vivre, Montreal has all the right ingredients to provide a uniquely inspiring atmosphere for the 2017 ITS World Congress.

Santis added, “we look forward to working with ITS America and all our partners in making this event a truly memorable and exceptional experience for all participants. Bienvenue a Montreal!”
