The ITS Directive published in the Official Journal of the EU on 6 August 2010 will ensure the compatibility interoperability and continuity for the deployment and operational use of ITS.
The ITS Directive – or Directive 2010/40/EU on the framework for the deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems in the field of road transport and for interfaces with other modes of transport – enters into force on 28 August 2010. It establishes a framework in support of the coordinated and coherent deployment and use of ITS within the EU in particular across the borders between the Member States and sets out the general conditions necessary for that purpose.
