Monday’s full schedule begins bright and early at 8:30 a.m. with the first Plenary Session, featuring a special keynote conversation between Ford Motor Company Executive Chairman Bill Ford and Editor-in-Chief of Fast Company magazine Robert Safian. Following the keynote, Dr. Peter Sweatman, Director of the University of Michigan’s Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI) will moderate a panel of international experts as the discussion turns to “Reinventing Policy to Support the New ITS.”

After the plenary session, a ribbon cutting ceremony will take place in front of the main entrance to the exhibit hall at 10:15 a.m. A ribbon cutting ceremony will also be held on Belle Isle to open the Technology Showcase demonstrations at 11:00 a.m. You will not be able to drive to and park on Belle Isle and must take the shuttle from Cobo. With 250 exhibiting companies and more than 30 interactive demonstrations, the variety of innovative technologies this year’s event offers is staggering.

Throughout the rest of the morning, attendees can check out the general sessions, explore the exhibit hall and the Technology Showcase, or participate in one of our  Technical Tours.  At noon, the first of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Summit sessions begins. Keynoted by Delphi Automotive CEO Rodney O’Neal, the CTO Summit Plenary discussion will center around ITS in the future.

Monday’s program closes with the Exhibitors Welcome & Regional Receptions at 4:30 p.m. in the exhibit hall. This is the perfect opportunity for the international exhibitors, regional and national ITS associations, and Michigan host community to welcome attendees for an important networking event.

Be sure to explore both the interactive and final program for a full list of Monday’s activities or see what is happening the other days of the World Congress.
