As 2019 slowly comes to an end, the ERTICO Team wishes to share with you and the ITS community, all the achievements that have made this a great year.
The well-attended ITS Congresses in 2019 were a key success for ERTICO. The European ITS Congress ‘Fulfilling ITS Promises’ held in the Brainport region in June 2019 attracted a record number of visitors (3,500) and the largest number of exhibitions ever seen in a European Congress. An added highlight was the Mayors Summit, which attracted the largest ever range of European city dignitaries and influencers who expressed their commitment to ITS and smart mobility.
From the European to the international arena, the 26th ITS World Congress was held in Singapore from 21-25 October with the theme of ‘Smart Mobility, Empowering Cities’ attracting 14,000 visitors and a global community of smart mobility pioneers. ERTICO’s European Pavilion present in the exhibition emphasised the importance of European ITS in the context of global developments in the sector and profiled several Partners.
In 2019, ERTICO also launched two new initiatives that will create great value for the ERTICO Partnership; the ERTICO Academy and the ERTICO Start-up Initiative.
The ERTICO Academy will provide Public Authorities with a dedicated learning platform offering specialised training courses on ITS to crucially fill the knowledge gaps in ITS and C-ITS. As cross-sector collaboration is firmly entrenched in ERTICO’s DNA, ERTICO was proud to introduce three talented start-ups through its Start-up Initative “Connect, Innovate and Grow” to the ERTICO Partnership during the organisation’s Annual Think Tank.
The 2019 Think Tank proved once again that knowledge sharing opportunities are needed to move forward towards safer, greener and smarter mobility. The event attracted over 40 ERTICO Partners including the presence of MEPs and Commission officials encouraging cross-sectoral collaboration.
In 2019, important results were also achieved with the many European projects ERTICO and its Partners are involved in. More detailed information can be found here.
This year, ERTICO welcomed 12 new members to the ERTICO Partnership, Eurométropole de Strasbourg; VVA Brussels, TX Logistik, dots.; NeoGLS, Be-Mobile, Indra, BlackBerry, Transport for West Midlands, Toulouse Metropole, the Municipality of Trikala and Ubiwhere. ERTICO acts as a home to all mobility sectors, offering a neutral place to exchange ideas and solve common mobility challenges. Welcoming new members makes the ERTICO community even stronger and ready for the challenges ahead in 2020.
Thanks to this varied Partnership, ERTICO was once again able to make a difference to the future of ITS. It is now time to celebrate all these achievements and get ready for the future challenges ahead.
The ERTICO Team thanks everyone who was involved in such activities and wishes everyone a happy holiday season and all the best for 2020!
