Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a new structure to regulate commercial transport activities named: ‘The Support, Transport and Rental Activities, which lists the commercial transport activities under 4 main categories namely: Transport Activities, Transport Services Management Activities, Rental Activities, and Transport Support Activities. The move is part of RTA’s ongoing efforts and commitment to bringing happiness to corporate and individual clients and improving the calibre of services on offer.

These new classifications aim to regulate commercial transport activities and accelerate their response to market variations. They will facilitate the process of updates and boost the accessibility of clients and investors to RTA’s services in various transport sectors.

The first category of the four activities is the Transport Activities, which includes the establishments that operate fleets of vehicles classified according to the type of activities, licensed drivers, and approved vehicles. It is comprised of 2 sub-categories: cargo transport and passenger transport.

The second part is Rental Activities. It includes the establishments that own vehicles and machinery and rents them to third parties. The third part is Transport Services Management Activities. It includes the establishments that practice activities relating to managing or delivering services relating to the transport and rental sector. The fourth part is Transport Support Activities.
