Over the next year, £30 million will be given out for the creation of new walking and cycling infrastructure in Scotland.
Transport Scotland, the national transport agency, is giving out more than £15 million in grants. Sustrans Scotland, an active travel charity, is awarding and administering these, with the remaining money for the projects coming from match-funding.
The charity commented that the 225 successful applications include ‘bold initiatives’ to combat the significant challenges that pedestrians and cyclists face, including busy roads and dangerous junctions.
