The Transport Systems Catapult’s Innovation in Rail Franchising project is in contention for a prestigious Civil Service Award after project sponsors, the joint innovation in rail franchising team working with the Department for Transport, were shortlisted in the “Supporting Innovation and Growth” category.
The annual awards event celebrate outstanding achievements made by civil servants across the UK in driving efficiency, thinking innovatively or helping to build better government. Now in its ninth year, the event attracted 695 nominations this time around – which has now been whittled down to just 51 nominees shortlisted across the event’s 16 award categories.
In the “Supporting Innovation and Growth” category, the Rail Innovation Team will face competition from the Treasury’s CBIS Higher Education Reform Project Team and the Department of Energy and Climate Change’s Wood Review Report Team. The Transport Systems Catapult’s support for the project has included the introduction of a new rail innovation fund, the development of requirements for the inclusion of innovation strategies in franchise bids, and improved incentivisation to encourage longer term investment in innovation.
The award winners are due to be announced on 19th November.
