Survey of Geospatial Needs for Connected and Automated Vehicles

The Tri-Lateral US-EU-JP Automation in Road Transportation Working Group, consisting of representatives of the European Commission Directorate-General for Communication Networks, Content and Technology, Smart Cities and Sustainability (DG-CONNECT), the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) and the Road Bureau of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) are collecting information on digital geospatial infrastructure needs to support both connected and automated vehicle technologies.  Noblis, under contract to USDOT, is supporting this effort and conducting this survey as part of this effort.

The purpose of this survey is to begin to identify needs and issues associated with the use of geospatial and geospatial related data for cooperative (also known as connected) and automated vehicle applications. It also asks questions related to the appropriate roles of the national and regional public agencies and the private sector, as well as possible synergies between public and private sector needs. You have been identified as someone who can provide valuable insight.

We appreciate the time required to respond to this survey. We believe that the results will be useful to both the public and private sector by providing a better understanding of the current state of capabilities, needs, and potential synergies across application areas, as well as on differing perspective of appropriate roles. Respondents to the survey will be provided with copies of the analyzed, anonymous results of the survey.

Responses from multiple individuals within the same organization are accepted. If you believe that you are not the correct person in your organization to respond, or would like to suggest additional respondents within your organization, please provide that information to James Moore (see contact information, below).

Responses to this survey will not be attributed to the responding individuals or organizations. We are using SurveyMonkey’s anonymous survey features to prevent us from associating specific responses with individuals while still allowing us to track who has and has not responded to the survey. We will not have access to information that associates responses with the responding individual or organization. The list of surveyed or responding organizations may be made public, but no responses will be associated with a specific organization or individual respondent. Responses by sector type (as listed above) or world region will be reported only if there are four or more individual survey respondents within that group. Combinations of groups may be reported out if necessary to assure there are at least four respondents in the grouping.

Response Time
We would greatly appreciate receiving your organization’s response by Friday, May 29th.
