Today, ICT technologies are transforming the concept of transport in many places around the world, including Europe and the United States. As we move towards an increasingly interconnected transport system, it is important to reflect on the history of the field and identify lessons learnt.

With this in mind, the United States’ Department of Transportation has released the History of ITS report. Each chapter cover the evolution of ITS throughout a decade, starting from the 1980s. It includes insight from different sectors, including public and private sector, associations and academia.
